cleaned 3 of the 8 plugs today 1 was kinda oily looking with a nice gas aroma or flavor looked like it was a butt plug insted of a spark plug :wtf2: was really gunkie , next was pretty clear with a fair coat of burnt orange-ish looking soot but dry , third plug was broke ????? down at the bottom of the plug where the gap and spark is there is more stone around the contact point that stone was actually sliding up and down the shaft of the contact point they were nkg plugs :gotme
going back to check on the other 5 plugs , have been cleaning the plugs with wire brush and carb cleaner spray and re gap them . all three were on the drivers side of the motor from back to front took the easy route first .

mite be time for some new rings??? or a flat our rebuild or drive it till it stops and be finding a new motor, found another whole 4x4 84 -720 for 200-300$ supposed to run know how that goes tho . fill u in on that one later

so was thinking today if rebuilding a z24 (complete motor rebuild) or if possable is there any place or places to get a turn key motor ? mmmm the thoughts :naughty: and how much ya think i am looking at to get a z24 back to mint condition or a crate motor topped with a lovely weber carb . in my dreams
but ....

if your guys and gals put yalls truck threw as much hell as i do then you'de under stand why i'd like to drive ol betsie around another 20-30 years .. example just used the ol gal this morning to pull some knuckle head in a big f-150 cargo van out of some soft sand pile "i'm not stuck that bad" he says ......... i get there and his pumpkin is setting on the ground :rotflmao , hooked the chane up and gave her a few jerks (in reverse and only in 2 wheel drive ) and the van was out :mike this wile firing on 3-4 plugs can you imagine if ol betsie had a new heart in her .. and gas is not getting cheaper and new cars are made to last 10 years now a days ???? so investing 3-5 grand in ol betsie annd probably a few body (cab or bed ) changes and it mite just make it to see my kids or gran kids drive it. so any info or feed back would be great as yall mite have already done this or are in the process ..

While a rebuild might be tempting and fun, it looks to me like it might just be a case of one bad plug or wire. Seems as if its not firing more than any other issue really.

ok cleaned the other plugs today , and got some interesting results , front and final plug on the exaust side was just slightly darkened or more soot not wet , now the intake side was weird back plug was same as the others blackened not wet seconed one up was identical to the other one on the exaust side wet and gunkie 3rd one matched other dry and dark ones and the fourth one in the front on intake side was dark and the gap was dam near closed ????????? also upon close inspection with the truck running you can hear the zapping of bad wires so tomarrow i will change both plugs n wires ,,,, now if i know my carb is having float or needle issues (black soot on the rear of the truck bed where the exauste pipe exits ) <---- could that foul the plugs quicker and can i correct this by getting a hotter plug or changing the gap on the plug from 32 to a higher or lower number and if so what plug should i get , i have or had nkg

Yes, it can foul them quicker. That basically says you're running too rich, which mine does as well. Good plugs, more spark, more timing and a little leaning will help you out.
