i know this topic has been posted AT LEAST 132342423 times, but what do you guys think of plans for my set up:

96 ka24de w/ 110k miles, compression test netted 120 on all 4, although I do believe we did the test wrong, didn't disc. fuel pump fuse, pulled 1 plug out at a time to test (3 others are in).

guys over at drift-racing.com said for $1000 includes all labor, custom IC piping, manifold, DP, oil lines.

only plan to run 7~ psi

All I need are:a turbo, which I going to get a t3 w/ internal wastegate offof ebay or the forums,sr20 injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump,a starion intercooler from ebay or the yard,as for fuel management I wanted a JWT ECU but those go for $600,the guys at drift-racing recommended the SAFC, but I think the vortech FMU is the cheapest, but I dunno which I should get, the 12:1, 10:1, or 8:1? how would I retard the timing? and how much?

Thanks

PS I got a pair of jwt cams in my garage, so I can either put those on and stay away from the boost, or sell those and make some $ for my plans. Still not 100% sure.

your suppose to remove all spark plug wires when your doin a comp test so your engine won't fire on you when your cranking. 120 is kinda low becusae the test is not done right. your suppose to read 150-190 across the board. and your setup is just fine. except for one thing, if your running 7 psi. stock injectors, fuel pump, and a 12:1 FMU should be perfect. if your goin to run 370cc injectors, you HAVE to get the AFC to turn the injectors down becuase you will be running ridicously rich.

12:1? isn't that kind of high? the nsport unit raises 7 per every lb of boost. I guess that will have to be my set up right now, eventually I will get the JWT ECU for bigger injectors and turbo, and also to reset rev limit and speed limit.

will stock timing be ok for 7 lbs?

The JWT ecu is only 500 bucks from http://www.heavythrottle.com or http://www.jgycustoms.com

Sell the cams and get the JWT ecu. For 7psi you don't need cams unless you get cam timing adjustment gears. High overlap cams (usually NA cams) aren't that good unless most of the overlap is dialed out. The JWT ecu with 370 injectors is good for 250-260 crank HP, depending on the octane of the gas you are running and the compression rationof the engine.

i dunno if i wanna turbo or not anymore... itjust seems to me there's alot of small things that go wrong, and I heard that I'll get like 15 mpg... and for the $ I'm putting in the turbo I can get a nice suspension so I'm not sure. Plus I need my car to last at least another 5 yrs.

God I would LOVE to get 15mpg! That would be a godsend. I get about 8-12 around town, and 12-14 on the freeway.

Power=fuel consumption. Anything you do to increase the 'area under the curve' of the torque graph will increase fuel consumption. The beauty of a turbo is that when you aren't leaning on it you get about the same mileage as without the turbo. Since I've instaled my turbo I gotten from 95 miles a tank (I jut couldn't resist getting on it every launch) to over 450 miles of highway driving.

ok I am willing to deal with 15 mpg... but what about my set up? the 12:1 fmu paired w/ stock inejctors should be enough for my set up right? When I say enough I mean SAFE. The nsport uses a 6:1 or a 8:1 (forgot whiich), so I guess it's "safe." Oh can some1 tell me why ppl have recommended the 12:1 instead of the 6:1/8:1?

95 miles a tank!!! Jeje... and I'm worried cause I'm gonna get a little less than 200 miles per tank with the first couple of tanks with some hefty driving.

I said I leaned on it EVERY time I accelerated. Four 50 lb/hr injectors can empty a 60 liter tank pretty quick. Gas is a little under a Kg/liter so lets just say there is 60Kg of fuel in the tank. 50 lb/hr is 525 cc/min. 525cc/min * 4 injectors * .80 duty cycle = 1.68 liters a minute or 100.8 liters/hour! Mileage doesn't stand a chance :-)

Jeje, yep. Didn't take the 50lb/hr injectors into account.
