I didn't know what to look for in a search so I just typed this up. I have a 2003 g35 automatic with mods. The car still starts slow from a stand still until it gets around the 3000 to 3500 rpm range which is when it will really starts to pick up. Is there anything I can do to really make it take off? I was looking at B&M torque converters and they claim to be able to help this with a higher stall torque converter. Would that really make a difference? the torque converter is $1,000. thanks for the help.

Remember this is only in 1st gear and never a problem after 20 mph.

A extremely high stall convertor will help launch and kill your cruise gas economy and be nasty to drive around town without reprogramming AT computer.

Small displacement multivalve engines in heavy cars usually all suffer this.

Before you waste money PLEASE drive a G35 which has the identical TC mod.

This mod might make your car unsaleable in the used market or at least require a discount.

Something doesn't sound right here. I've driven a number of G35 loaners from my Infiniti dealer, and they were all extremely fast. In fact, the first one I drove taught me a lesson to not floor it, even accidentally from a stop light. Doing so results in the car banging through the gears so fast it's in 3rd gear going for fourth aqlmost before you can take your foot off the gas. I was amazed at how fast they all, regardless of what year, accelerate from a stop at full throttle.

You mention you have "mods". I've seen many "mods" that actually hurt performance rather than help it. You might want to undo all of your rmods and see how it runs. If it's still slow to 3,000 RPM, you may want to take it to a dealer or a GOOD import shop that's familiar with Infinitis to find the problem. It sounds like SOMETHING is wrong there. Then after you've taken care of the problem add back your mods one at a time and watch how it performs with each one before you decide to stick with them.

Of course, if undoing the mods fixes the problem, then just add them back one at a time to find which one is causing the problem, and don't use that one any more.

Your G35 should be pretty fast, even from idle, even box stock.
