Can anyone tell me exactly where the PCV Valve is located on a 2001 QX4?

thanks

got it!thanks as usual NISTECH...

now, the infiniti maintenance schedule makes no reference to changing the PCV valve. but generic auto care sources say this is one of the filters that should be changed somewhat regularly...IS this something that needs to be changed on my vehicle...i had an older guy who is a mechanic look at it, and he claims it does not need to be replaced.

First it is not a filter it is a valve. On older vehicles there was an air filter for the pcv freash air intake. that is no longer the case. Now it uses the regular air filter as its filter.

Now the valve replacement interval is a gray area. some say replace it at certain intervals and some say it doesnt need replacing unless it fails. Generally the PCV valve can last the life of the vehicle without failure.

My personal opinion is this. The longevity of the valve is dependent on the conditions in which it is subjected. If you live in an area where theres alot of fine particulate dust ,or if maintanance intervals are not followed to a T. you should probably replace it every 60k cause it could get gummed up and not function properly.

you are absolutely right, I realize it's not a filter, but a valve, I mis-spoke, since i've been working on all my filters. thanks for being patient with this beginner, i'm slowly but surely learning and working on 1 thing at a time. air filter/cabin air filter/fuel filter, and pcv valve WAS next on the list (easiest on up...)IF i were to decide to replace it, it looks like there are factory type clamps on the tube, would i have to get replacement screw type clamps after removing them, or are the clamps that i see as factory clamps spring loaded or once i pry them off can they be reused? i just didn't want to pop them off without knowing the consequences. I put some light pressue on them and felt that it wasn't going to come off easy. I've also read you should soak that area a litte before really attempting to do so.

you just sqeeze the tabs together with a set of pliers and slid it down the hose to remove it.

I disagree that it can last the life of the engine. Perhaps if you ran Propane instead of fossil fuel it would. But with the crud for gas we get today, she ain't gonna make it. Mine was so clogged it was unreal. I had the sticky throttle pedal too. So my suspision is if your throttle pedal is sticking then you got PCV failure too. I read some where the PCV is what causes the throttle problem in the first place. Just my .02.
