Does anyone know if the rear cargo area on a 96-2001 Nissan Pathfinder stayed the same in 2002 also?

Oh yeah, is the cargo area in the pathfinder identical to the one in the qx4?

I contacted Stan a JL Tech about this.

He said that the stealthbox was not recommended in 2002+ model years.

He went on to say that it does physically fit, but there was carpet color issue. They could not find a matching carpet color or anything close from their distributor.

So I sent him an email again, this time saying carpet colors is not an issue for me. Worst case I could get it recarpetted. He said I was welcome to try but their is a 25% restocking fee.

The box is pretty expensive. The restocking fee would cost us around $100. I checked all my local distributors, but nobody stocks it. Looking at the picture, that portion of the cargo area looks identical. When the store reps called to see if it would fit, they were told no.

I wish I knew someone who has one in their older SUV to do a quick test fit. Let me know if you find out anymore information on this.

Yeah, I did pretty much the same thing.

My 3 local dealers had no clue if it would fit, but after comparing numerous photos of the different year models, I have yet to notice any difference in that part of the cargo area. And I thought the same thing, the color match doesn't bother me at all either, since I could just recarpet it.

I found a used one on eBay that didnt sell and after emailing the guy, he said he would take $350 for just the enclosure, which is well below retail, but he has no feedback so I am not going to trust him. I don't know where exactly to go from there.

I still would love to have one, just dont want to do like you said: Purchase it with it not fitting and not be able to get a refund...

Yeah, I saw the one on ebay to and asked him the same questions. Of course he answered sure it will fit, but I assume he was just trying to make the sale.

I will be going back to ATL in a few weeks to start summer classes at Georgia Tech. While I'm there, I'll call up the local dealers in hunt for the enclosure.

Another thing to consider is getting a custom fiberglass enclosure made. Now Audio & Video said they could do this for me. They usually cost around the same as the JL Audio box, but I never went to get a full estimate from the installer. I would much rather have a trusted JL box.

I'll keep you posted.

LOL

Yeah, the guy told me the same, of course it will fit he says. LOL. He wasn't willing to ship it C.O.D. which is the only way I will purchase an item from a seller with no or negative feedback. Too risky any other way from my experiences.

Never-the-less, I checked with a local dealer on the fiberglass enclosure and they wanted $575 without woofer, which seemed a little high, but might work as a last resort. I just cant understand why JL hasn't tested the enclosure on the new body styles so that they could make more sales if it fits. Oh well...

Let me know what you find out...

Just to let you guys know that were interested in the JL Audio StealthBox.

I just got mine in and installed it semi-easily.

You can view the photos at: http://wtfaudio.milesmedia.net/pix/qx4-install

It is in my 2002 QX4, thought one of the braces had to be modified for it to fit properly. If you are interested, just let me know and I will give you the details. :)

But, YES, it can work!

Now for the questions.

Where did you run the power cable through? I can't seem to make out the location from the pic.

Bracket Mods - any pics?

Did you ever take out the stock reciever? I've tried prying at the vents, but if I pry any harder I fear that it's gonna crack.

Thanks.

YGM about the brace/bracket moving.

The receiver is tricky to remove, I saw a document on it somewhere and all I remember from it is there are hidden screws somewhere around (or in maybe) the vents. Then the rest just clips after the screws if I remember correctly. I will look for the file again and let u know if I find it.

The power wire for the amplifiers I brought in the same holes the hinges go into, in the floor cargo space.

:)
