Passanger airbag light never turns on?

i just got a sl awd blue rogue with premium, leather and moonroof package,how ever the passanger airbag light never turns on, is that a problem or that's the design? i went through the menu, dosen't say clearly, as i know my mom's 07 camry, if there's no one sit on the passenger seat, the passenger air bag light should be light up. but my rogue's passenger air bag light never turns on, even there's no one sit on it, any problem with it?

My understanding is that it will only turn on if there's a person/object (car seat for example) sitting in the seat but that person/object isn't big enough or heavy enough for the airbag to be safe.

It shouldn't turn on if nobody is sitting in the seat.
