My timing chain recently ate through the upper guide, allowing it to bounce around inside the front cover. I've decided to go ahead an pull the whole engine and give it a bit of a rebuild (the odo is broken but I'm guessing 100k - 120k). So far I plan on replacing: timing chain and sprockets, PCV, all belts/hoses, valve seals, water pump, 02 sensor, and oil pump. I would also clean the deck adjust valve lash etc. Any one have suggestions for other stuff to replace? I'm thinking maybe main bearings, piston rings (with honed cylnders of course). Any suggestions, tips, etc would be greatly appreciated.

if your engine is torn apart, you might as well go ahead and do a full rebuild. That way you have a fresh engine with 0 miles on it.

How much would it cost for all the micrometers needed? My plan was more or less to replace any wear items. If I get new piston rings and get the block honed that would fix any taper right? Other than that I could just do the main/rod bearings, all gaskets/seals, core plugs, thermostat, and what I listed above. Valve guides I can check without measurement just by wiggling valve inside, bent valves should be easy enough to find without measuring tool. Should I go ahead and replace the entire timing chain assembly (tensioners and all) or do you think that just the chain and sprockets is ok? Any Ideas for cleaning all the gunk and carbon that has undoubtedly built up over the years? Seafoam maybe? How about the fuel pressure regulator and injectors? I know my way around an engine but this would be my first full rebuild so any advice would be great.

I'm, in a class right now where we build engines, but alot are american pushrod style, with one OHC ford V-6. I feel confident I can do it, i just want advice on the most important stuff to do. I don't have cash for swap right now, when I do though...
