First off, welcome to NICO.

Secondly, I didn't know our engines were carb'd :P.

Only versions of the CA series engine that I thought ever existed were

CA18DECA18DETCA18ETCA20**CA16**

All of which were fuel injected

He's got a U12. I though that they had a CA20 in them, and they were carburated. Are you sure that it's a CA18? Are you sure it's carburated?

the u12 came out with:ca16s carbyca18 carbyca18s carbyca18** - tbi, it has a carb with a massive injector and a smaller oneca18e efica18deca18detca20 carbyca20s efica20e efika24e efisr18di - like tbi, it has a carb but with 2 injectors in the carb instead of jetssr18desr20desr20det

All sohc versions come in 4 spark plug and 8 spark plugAll engines came out fwd or awd, except the ca16 which was fwd only.

The DE head will not easily fit the sohc block. It can be done, but you will need custom head bolts, a custom crank pulley for the timing belt, a timing belt idler pulley to be fitted to the front of the block and a de head gasket.

If you already have a ca18, you could fit a ca18de. It will bolt up to your gearbox. You will need an electric fuel pump and the ca18de wiring loom and computer.
