I just got a catback, and header for my kae. I want to paint them black because I want to prevent them from rusting also I wanna go with that hide-a-way look.

I also don't want my paint bubbling and peeling off at high temperatures...

What kind of paint can I use. Can the same paint be used for the header and exhaust? How much will they cost?

Where to get? Wal-mart, autozone, advance? which is best price wise?

I did search, not much on this topic.

edit: also what's the best way to sand them down, and prep for paint? i've been sanding them by hand for a while now... what grits should i use?

Thanks

About to try this myself. Although if the header is stainless, I am not sure if the paint will adhere very well. I think they have "exhaust" paint at any auto parts store, and some may be good to 1000 degrees? Beyond that, I would just sand / steel wool until the rust is gone and paint away...Good luck

you can spray it with heat-proof paint, but it stinks SO bad... i guess that you would not want that at all.rusted exhaust does not effect flow, so i see no problem here.i would use dark exhaust wrap - cheap and effective

Autozone sells paint for heat applications and it goes up to i think 1200 or 1500*F but it will probably still bake off. but give it a shot.
