No texture but here is the exact process...

Here is what I went through. None of this is available at Home Depot or the likes, so don't waste your time like I did. Do not do this on a windy day. An amateur can do this.

Go down to your local Autozone or parts place and buy:

2 cans of primer/sealer2 cans of paint <- the blue can with the rims on it.3 cans of clear coat1 pack of 600 grit wet or dry san paper2 packs of 40 grit1 roll of masking tape.

After that comes the easy part. Make sure to have an electric sander as sanding the rims by hand will leave your arms useless for a week. Start before 7:00 a.m. because this takes about 10 hours :

1. Take your rim off the car. I did mine two at a time with jack stands so it was easier. Remove the center caps and put aside. Follow the instructions at the bottom of the page on How To Paint Your Center Caps.

2. Wash your rims and tires. For the rims I used Eagle One Rim A2Z All wheel cleaner. *Important* Make sure you get all of that Armor All or whatever off of the tires with a brush or else the masking tape won't stick.

3. Dry in sun or dry with a towel.

4. Time to connect the 40 grit to the electric sander and have at it with the rim. Do the inside of the rim first then do the outside. Make sure to clear of all rust and any anything else that is not supposed to be there. Do not sand that long as you will get to the metal real quick with that sand paper. (Do the same to the other rim if you are doing two at a time.)

5. Blow off any excess dust. I had an air canister that you use to clean computer parts to help me because I smoke.

6. Time to tape up the rim with the masking tape. Cover the wheel because you will get overspray on it. Cover whatever you don't want painted.

7. Use the primer. If you never used primer before follow this :a.) Primer the inside of the rim first. You don't have to put much down because much is not needed *See pic* b.) Let it dry. <-Won't take long at all.c.) Sand down with the 600 grit sand paper until it is smooth.d.) Do the same for the outside and to the other rim if you aredoing two at a time. When you primer you go around the rim with the paint in a sweeping motion. DO NOT STAND IN ONE SPOT AND SPRAY AROUND THE RIM. Moving around is the best assurance that you get an even coat.

8. Take a break and smoke a cig because the next bit takes much patience.

9. Ready ? Time to paint. Paint the inside of the rim first. It is better to do multiple small coats than it is to do 1 large coat. Cover the rim. I sprayed it 3 times. Do not let the paint run. When you spray paint you go around the rim with the paint in a sweeping motion. DO NOT STAND IN ONE SPOT AND SPRAY AROUND THE RIM. Moving around is the best assurance that you get an even coat. * See Pics*

10. Wait until the last coat gets tacky. Don't touch it hard because you will get finger prints but lightly feel for it beginning to get sticky.

11. When it does (should be sticky in 20 minutes or so) go ahead and apply the clear coat. After the first coat of clear coat (wait for it to dry) I lightly sanded by hand with the 600 grit to get it extra smooth. Apply 2 more coats or as many as desired.

12. Wait again until the clear coat get's tacky and then flip the rim.

13. Follow steps 9-11 for the outside. Take your time with the out side since this is the part that gets seen most.

14. Set both rims aside and wait. Keep the outside of the rim up. (in the sun preferably*not underneath a tree*)

15. Smoke a cig and wait until they are completely dry before you try to attach them back on the car. You will know they are dry when the outside of the rim is smooth and not tack to the touch. If you want to help out you can use a blow dryer for added heat. I didn't use heat lamps because I think it makes the paint run more.

Follow the same process for the other 2 rims and you will be fine.

How to Paint Your Center Caps :

1.) Use that 600 grit sand paper and sand down the plastic until it smooth.2.) Primer3.) Paint. 4.) Clear coat.5.) Dry.

If you all agree that this should be FAQ'd I have no problem with it. Although maybe I should re-do the instructions and take out the part about smoking a cig during the breaks in order to promote a healthier living...:cwm27

Nismokid- Thanks...

Wait for the first clear coat to dry. Then apply the other coats.

It is gunmetal but I didn't know it was gunmetal. On the spray paint can it just looked like a dark gray, but when I sprayed it on... I saw all these little silver flakes. I had no idea that the paint was going to look like that :D. So far I have driven the car in this beyond crappy wheather (rain and icing up with salt on the roads) in Texas and there are no chips or flakes.

That's tight. Looks good and it's a lot less expensive than getting new rims. If you got in more thrifty ideas like that please post them.

Wow, that does take a lot of patience. Probably more than I have. Haha. But I've got an s13, so the wheels would look stupid any other color than silver. The rims on s14s look great gunmetal. Bravo, sir.

And yes, it should be FAQ'ed.

Nick.

Looks pretty good, better if your car was not white, but still good. Definitely FAQ material.

You got room for 8 240's, 1 2003 maxima, and 1 89 300zx. We all want to go somewhere for spring break but we don't want to go to South Padre Island. I'll mention to the crew about CC and see what they say.

Thanks... but the color of the car is pearl. You really can't tell from the pictures. I wanted a dark blue one but 240's are impossible to find in San Antonio. The only 240's I could find were in Houston and I don't trust them seeing that Houston has had alot of floods lately. I just took what I could find.
