Background: 97 I30 with 154K miles. Had CEL on a couple of weeks ago with trouble codes P0440 (Evap System Leak) and P0325 (KS open ckt). Replaced Gas Cap and KS and the CEL went away. Last week, the CEL came back on with P1400 (EGRC-Solenoid Valve). It 'coughed' during starting but other than that, everything is normal. I checked the solenoid valve - 'click' test with ignition ON, power supply and ground from ECM were all good. I pulled out the Solenoid Valve and did manual test - OK with valve switching from Throttle Body/Intake to EGR-BPT/EGR valve. Confirmed valve operation by blowing air with solenoid energized and de-energized..I don't think I have any problem with EGR-BPT nor with the EGR valve and related tube. The car is well-maintained and I just completed a self-imposed Bi-annual Maintenance this week (changed engine oil, ATF, P/S fluid, brake fluid, coolant; replaced air filter; checked battery and alternator voltages; measured rotor and pad thickness and tire depth; lubricated all rubber boots and bushings).
I bought a replacement Solenoid Valve from Nissan for @ $100 (no time to go to IoS). I checked the spec for the EGRC-Solenoid is 30-32 ohms. The brand new one has 32 ohms while the old one has 34.5 ohms. I'm still undecided whether to replace the Solenoid Valve or not as it is my son's car. Besides, the resistance is just over 2.5 ohms over the spec. He will be back from a conference in Las Vegas this Friday.
Any other suggestion is highly appreciated.
