I have a 2000 maxima, getting the p1126 code, which is supposedly the coolant sensor. I have tried two different new sensors. the gauge is reading fine, and everything seems to be running normal. The check engine light is still on however, and keep getting the same code. any suggestions of what to try next? thanks, Nate

P1126 essentially means that the engine has been running for an extended period of time but coolant temperature has not reached required temperature. Since you have already replaced the Temp Sensor, then problem is with the Thermostat - either stuck open or a leak within the housing.

thank you, looking online, where is the thermostat on the 2000 maxima? Do I have to drain the coolant to change it out? any help on how to change the thermostat would be greatly appreciated. thanks! Nate
