Yesterday in the 09 I had a service engine light pop on. Got home and scanned it and found p0826 in addition to p0455 for a vent control valve which I fixed right away. I’ve found that the code had to do with the tranny, more so manual mode which could be about 4 different issues and looks like a major pita to fix. Had the emission system not had set a light id probably had never noticed it as the car runs and drives fine even in manual mode. Is this something major that may leave me stranded or perhaps a fluke code? All my web searches return no real world issues such as impending cvt failure.

It isn't the tranny. The manual select switch is in the top of the shifter. There's a microswitch that detects sideways movement of the shifter shaft, that will be the manual switch. It may just be stuck or gummed up.

Pop the console cover and shifter fascia and take a look. The switches will be visible on the lefthand side where the shifter slot makes the "T" for paddling. A lot of times that DTC is the result of paper, food or other debris getting caught in the mechanism.

Any future issues if I choose to ignore it? There’s no issue other than a tranny code that doesn’t throw a cel. Who knows how long that codes been there tbh.

Nope. If you don't use the paddle shifter then it can be ignored, no problem.

That’s the ironic part is there’s no issue using it. Thanks for the info as always. I’ve got new Sachs rear shocks to put on today and I’m in the process of flushing out the valvoline cvt fluid over to eneos and didn’t wanna take on another project. Off to Miami for 2 weeks on business and wanna make sure the house sitter isn’t left stranded.
