This forum is great, looks like a lot of knowledgable people out there...Anyway, I read further down the list about this code PO158 (O2 sensor),my SES light was on for about a month, and then finally went to dealer and had it cleared (code was P0158)- it has not come back on - (about a week now) but they did not do anything except clear the code. Does that mean that sometimes the codes should be just cleared first and see if they come back. The truck did not run any different before or after the light was on. In fact about a month before the light came on, an emmissions test was done and it passed without issue. How does the O2 sensor relate to the exhaust system, cause there is slight leak in the exhaust between the large front muffler and rear resonator. (I was told that the exhaust problem was common, something about the rear resinator is too heavy, so dealer had a "sleeve" put on rather than replace the whole resinator system - a significant savings $70 vs $500)

Any feedback would be appreciatedThanks

The code you got was for a rear O2 sensor. that sensor only moniters cat effecency and does nothing for engine fuel management. In the USA there is a bulliten to replace the effected o2 and reprogram the ECM. I dont know if those bullitens are available in canada though.

Thank you I appreciate the feedback, the code came back a couple of days ago - so it looks like I need a new rear driver side O2 sensor - I think I'll try and do this myself

you need to have the reprogram done or it will continue to happen , the reprogram is to prevent the O2 from coming on when moisture is on it, it gradually ads heat instead of going full intensity on first start up and burning the element out.
