Hey the worst happened to me yesterday... i was taking a small run in some rural road near my city when this happened...

i was coasting to a stop when i saw that that my idle was pretty low , soo i give some throttle and the engine seemed normal ... almost 30 second after that , i see smoke comming out of my hood and my temp gauge was in the red ..

anyway i stop everything and get on the side of the road .. and look for some coolant in the rad, nothing , only vapor. I check my oil ...almost empty (it was full before the run) I look under the car and some prestone was the ground .. the hose from the block to the heater radiator was blown...

I hope there not to much damage but im not really happy about this cuz i was almost ready to install my complete exhaust, downpipe, t28 turbo ..

check theses coolant hoses often.. !

now, im gonna get an aftermarket engine temp gauge with an alarm feature ...

man, same thing happened to me.. last year i was driving around for an hour before i noticed something was wrong. at least you NOTICED it was running hot, mine didnt say anything was wrong because there was no coolant in the lines. it eventually died on me and when i popped the hood the block was smoking! the best part was nothing happened. the CA is a very stout motor, ill bet money that itll run like a top when you fill it back up with coolant and oil.

p.s. - it really wont help much adding a temp gauge, because if the coolant all leaks out there is nothing for the gauge to measure the temperature of. i would just put several hose clamps on it and hope it doesnt happen again, thats what i did.

Its running fine now .. changed the coolant hose and there was a 1 inch crack in it ...

im happy that in the end , nothing seem to be wrong with it .. its boosting fine and compression is 160psi on all four .. !

at the back of the engine under the intake manifold a pair of hoses run to the heater core, one from the block and one from the mess of hoses under the intake mani..
