Generic, I know that you're in Hawaii and where I work we deal with a communications station in Maui. Well we had some problems... um... does it snow in the mountains in Hawaii? That wasn't you I talked to on the phone was it?? That would be crazy!

Yes it can snow here. Haleakala can get some snow (more like ice shavings) but it is not usual. Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on the Big Island usually get some from Dec-Mar.

It did in fact snow here (Bg Island) last night, 2-3 inches.

Sorry Eric, was in the neighborhood didn't see a response so thought I would help.

Hey, thanks for the response. I was really just curious because I'd never heard of snow on Hawaii before. I guess you learn something new every day!!

haha yeah, it does snow here more than you would ever think. Of course, like Palika stated, only on the mountain tops, like 10,000 ft up though. And no, it wasn't me you spoke to

I went up the last big snow that we had (think it was 6+ inches), it wasn't a lot of people or a whole lot of snow, but there sure were a lot of people snow boarding up there. Not to mention the most cars I had ever seen up there. Usually just 4wd, this time had tourists driving some 4 door chevy, and I believe a couple of hondas were there too.
