There are 2 sitting in the U-Pull yard here in Gainesville, a '91 and a '93.

Motor, with accessories, out the door, as is, runs right at $200.00.They do have a warranty option but its a little more. (I think its somewhere around $50 more for the warranty, but not sure since I never get it)Why haven't I snatched them up?

Its simple arithmetic, 3xVH45DE + 1xSR20DE + 1x R1 motor + 2x YZF600r motors + 1xZ33 6-speed + 1xZ32 5-speed + 1xB/W T5 + 1x Q45 A/T = No friggin room!

I feel your pain. I have 6xVH45, 1xVH41, 1xVG30, and no room either!

No, it'd be slightly off. The Mazworx bits are designed to work with their adaptor which puts the gearbox dead against the motor, unlike Wes's which spaces it out a bit.

I should be getting mine next week, I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Got my plate sent over from Perth today. Looks a bit rough, I would have had the centre plasma or laser cut, have to watch excessive heat, it'll distort. The countersinking is a bit rough, but should work OK.

I haven't had a real good play with it yet and I will be away all weekend on work, but how are the gearbox bolts supposed to work? I thought they would have been drilled and tapped rather than drilled and countersunk

Weld the bolts to the plate so they act like studs?

remember these are the PROTOTYPES... When we're doing the production ones they're going to be 100% milled so theyll be a lot cleaner. also the holes on the bottom are not used, so only the top 5 are being used (the big screws), and all of those should have countersunk fine.

Yeah I agree, I paid to have the centers cut out and I was not very pleased my the job my shop did.. Let me tell you though, they're beautiful coming off the mill..

Youll notice theres smaller countersinks on the back those are for the bolts that mount the trans to the plate. Weld them in they're countersunk for a standard 5/8" bolt...

These prototype plates arent real "pretty" but theyre good enough to make sure they work...

If you have plates coming off the mill you should take pictures of them because the prototypes do look a little rough (not knocking your product as i understand the prototyping process but if the production ones look good then they will sell better).

I will be needing a plate in the near future and its between you and mazworx...make them look sexy enough that I wont be able to justify the price for the mazworx plates and you have another customer.

ps. Not sure if you mentioned this already, but what process did you use to measure and create drawings for the machining (calipers, cmm, etc.)?Thanks

well i got ahold of a john dixon plate and basically copied it using my design.. The bolts are kinda the "proprietary" part as I had them custom machined (no such thing as a 45* countersink flathead screw in M14x1.5)

we set the dixon plate on the CNC, put it on manual and recorded the points and created a G-code right on the mill (im not 100% sure how that happened, im not a machinist my buddy is).... so technically we dont have any drawings just the G-code we can throw right into the CNC.. We have to cut the large hole and the outside edges with a jigsaw, torch, or plasma.

really the plates will look the same except the bottom 4 holes wont be there and the countersinking will be a little better..

Well your mate did a good job. The locating pins are dead on for the engine dowls. Absolutley perfect, just tapped on with a hammer I'll try and get some bolts and fit up the 'box soon.

Yay!

It works!

Just used some 3/8" Booker rod/Allthread/Cyclone Rod/Whatever you guys call it, put the plate on the 'box and put the rod in and welded them on. Ground them flat with a 4" and she was all good.

Bolted up was easy too. There is only one bolt hole which can't be done up without drilling a through hole into the gearbox bell housing (which I wasn't keen to do as I'm trying to sell this gearbox )

Had to grind a bit off the top of the M14 countersunk bolts to get them to sit flush, no way around this unless a thicker plate is used, the bottom of the head of the bolt bottoms out against the engine block. Also had to touch up the engine dowls and that little pin on the crank.

There wasn;t any provision for locating dowels for the gearbox I think I can live without them, but was expecting there to be something...

Gearbox input shaft is spot on, so please about this, was a bit worried it would be way off.

Starter can't be changed with the gearbox on Need to take too much meat out of the plate to allow it to be changed, so I'll live with it...

What if you switched out the starter studs for bolts? Would you gain enough clearance?

So I have been on these forums for a while and I am about to buy a 91 Q45 to put the motor in my 1972 240z but I want this 5-speed conversion. Nobody has posted for a while and I was wondering what the final price for this adapter plate. Or if there is any left, and how well have they worked on those that have recived them. hopefully hear from somebody soon.
