Oh, and another question...do you plan on throwing those spacers on soon? It'd be nice to see the clearance between the tire and fender when it's pushed out that extra 8mm...

he he well close on the wheels but nop! i am getting detailed measurements because willwood is helping me to create a custom big brake kit for the cube they help me big time with the wide body xb and they are close to me so i am doing a lot of homework so i can see it happen and hopefully soon will be ready

Not a good idea to go much lower - There's not a lot of suspension travel left now, and I'm pretty sure the OEM shocks are gonna be shagged within a month (they're operating way outta their design range).

Operating them with a 1" - 2" drop will shag them out in short order.

They'll then be operating outside of their designed stroke range.

If you're not lowered, they're still fine.

Greggg could you get better pictures from the side? I want to get a better idea of the drop the springs gave you.

It's certainly not "VRT drop"...

Yep - I've been so slammed, but I promise I'll get to it.

Hell, I've only washed the damn thing once since I bought it!

I’ve followed your lead and installed Megan Racing springs on my Cube Torqued everything up to factory specs after the install and about a week later, started hearing a “knocking” or “popping” sound from both front sides. It almost sounds like the springs where wiggling around in there. (They're not.) It’s most noticeable when I turn or go over bumps. Has this happened to you? It’s an annoying sound for sure. I pulled the front wheels off and re-inspected the install, and it looked clean. I noticed that, loaded, the bottom two coils were fully compressed. I dunno if that has anything to do with it or not. Could it be the sway bar doing its thing with the stiffer suspension? Bushings? Any input you could give would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,elD

how many miles you have on your cube?

mine did that cracking noise only once but after that never again,it sounded more like a bumper breaking into the everyday drive and LA streets

and i did notice a diference after the cube past the 800 miles, the drive felt better and a bit faster on the throttle....way i dont know.... but it did

kinda off topic for this thread, but damina, i also noticed a significant difference in the pickup and throttle response at about the 800 to 1000 mile mark on mine, makes you wonder if it is programmed into the break-in procedure for the vehicle. i wouldnt doubt it for a second, especially considering that this a "drive by wire" vehicle. btw, did you ever notice that if you stab the accererator to the floor VERY quickly and immediately release, that the engine never breaks idle, even in park or neutral? the "drive by wire" thing takes a bit of getting used to when doing a quick dive into traffic. you hafta commit a bit early. had a couple of hairy traffic situations before i got used to that lag....

haaaa haaa! dont trip man! but yeah the cube haves the same drive by wire that my audi tt haves which makes it very strong with fast response and no throttle lag telling you man i still get impressed of all the stuff this cube came for the price it runs for! i love it!

Your cube looks nice lowered. I've also been thinking of lowering my cube as well as increasing the wheel size, partially for looks but definitely to stiffen up the ride and handling.

How much did it actually get lowered with those Megan springs?

With the 17" wheels you now have (with +42 offset) and the 225/45R17 tires, how much space is there between the tire and the wheel well? How much space between the inside of the front tires and the suspension arm and the inner part of the wheel well at max turn?

I saw your pics with your aftermarket wheels/tires and thought they seemed a little too low profile for 17" wheels for this car.

I noticed you put 205/40's on them which end up being over 4% difference in diameter (and over 4% too fast on the speedo). It's recommended that you don't go more than 3% difference.

A set of 215/40's would be a bit better (2.75% diameter difference and 2.8% too fast on the speedo), or like AZHitman, a set of 225/45's (only 2.13% diameter difference and 2.17% slower on the speedo).

The cube looks great, Funny story about your license plate. ROFLBOX was my first choice, but you got it a MONTH earlier than I tried.. Nice pickup, I went with CUBERT instead.

Welcome aboard!

I originally wanted "DROPBOX", but it was taken.

A week later, I saw it on the streets... On a ghetto-looking Scion xB. Bleh.

Hi 1HoTcUbE, Can you please tell how your setup worked out (any rubbing, camber, etc.)
What wheel size did you get, tire size, spacers, is the setup flush with the body? Thx for any info.
BTW, I have the Megan lowering springs and now looking for a setup that works without alot of "extra"
parts, I don't mind spacers and I don't want that tilted wheel at the rear look.
