im about to purchase a 1979 280zx i have an rb20det about to come out of my 240sx would it be a good idea to swap the l28 out for the rb or keep the l28 in the car and work on it

Really your call, but IMO the RB swap is a lot of work for the little gain you'd get from putting the RB20 in it, if it were the 25/26 it may be different. That said, you can make really good power out of an L28 turbo, and you'd really appreciate the extra torque afforded to you those extra 800cc's can give especially in the Heavier S130 as opposed to the S30.

agreed, L28ET > RB20DETdo a search ther si a lengthy discussion about just that, honestly if you are more comfortable wiht the RB have at, but it's a lot mroe work and money to use the RB
