How exactly is that noobish? Its simpler and your car wont burn down as a result of crappy wiring.
I think you should double check your wiring. The Versa is a newer vehicle and its possible that they hadnt had any experience on that type of vehicle. I just dont see whats wrong with the stock unit. It's not like it sucks.
It may be simpler, but it's a lot suckier for those who care about sound quality. If changing your car radio caused cars to "burn down," then we'd see smoldering cars on every block. Your fear-mongering here is not helpful and pointless.
Again, I have a Canadian 2007 Versa SL. It didn't even come with a mini-jack for MP3 players. The unit does suck. With the stock unit, the only option is an FM transmitter. That and mini-jacks may be fine for some people, but it's not for me. The sound quality just doesn't cut it. The FM transmitter is a non-starter and to have a mini-to-mini cable just out there in your car, and having to unplug and replug every time you get in and out of your car is a complete waste of time. My iPod is sitting in the glove compartment out of sight and out of mind.
When this issue has happened, the whole car just seems dead. Now I'm not discounting wiring, but my Pioneer was installed over a year and a half ago. Looking for opinions here, do you think it would that long for a problem to show up if it was caused by a simple radio installation? And I'm in Montreal, where there are a ton of Versas on the road, they had plenty of experience with them and had all the parts already in stock to install the afternoon I called them up. This wasn't done in a garage or *shudder* a Best Buy.
