What's the easiest way to make clearance to remove the oil pan on a '78 620?

Why do I need to remove the sway bar? Seems like the cross brace and center tie rod are the only things in the way . . . the manuals I have say you need to jack up the engine, but that seems unnecessary.

well... you may not have to take out the sway bar but it did make mine easier

jacking up the engine is only needed if you don't want to remove the pieces mentioned above... i find removal easier than jacking it up though

Got it without any problems... Just removed the cross-member. Don't know why you'd do it any other way. Thanks for the help.
