Ok i had it like this when i bought the motor, but i'm wonder am i able to repair this? i know its going to be a 10% chance. If all else fails and a couple thin 'scars' open up, am i able to take it to a shop and have it welded closed? would it be alright? I mean this would obviously be better than waiting eleventy billion months for it to come from japan, and i can do it in a week so maybe i can do my swap next week. UNLESS someone here has a ca18det rwd oil pan they like to sell(probably plan b)

thanks all

****ty pics i know, mom took my camera -=\

mine was almost as bad, i had a friend hold it, while i had a hammer and used the stick part of a jack to hammer it out. just give it some time.

wow thats the worst I've seen... at least its on the opplosite side from the drain hole / low side, so it could be worse. don't have to worry about trying to make the hole round again

yeah, just beat the **** out of it. my friend made a noticible change in the driveway beating on mine, I think we did more damage to the driveway than the pan.. I don't want to even know what happened to that oilpan to do that

yeah, the bad part is that its located where that strainer(?) thing is located so i dont know is it gonna be bad. I'm gonna try to bang that out. But i'm wondering can shops fix it though? i mean people weld flanges for their oilreturn line, but then they're on the side of the oilpan so that probalby wont affect it that much for them =[

sounds like a great opportunity to add a kickout sump and a baffle.

I *MIGHT* have a CA oil pan in storage. That's a HUGE maybe, but I'm going there today anyways, so I'll check. It's dented very slightly...a whole lot less than that. If I have it, I'll send it to you for shipping cost. I'll post back on here this afternoon with an answer.

He's a fellow CA enthusiast, that's all, has nothing to do with NICO.

how close is the strainer/pickup to the bottom of the oil pan?, how big a dent will cause failure?

new pan would be nice (damn where were the free ones when I complained about my dents??) but yeah a bit of mallet goes a long way... ok not that long with the ca18 since the oilpan is bullet proof.

Mine was dented to **** when I got it. I spent at least 30 min. on it. But I think it actually holds slightly more oil than stock now. I beat it out a little past stock. I really made sure that it wasn't anywhere near close on the area where the pickup is at.

I've had bad luck getting pans resealed so I just left mine dented and my oil pressure is fine... I'll probably try to fix it next time I have it out though.
