Oil leak

I have an oil leak on the back of the motor it is near where the transmission bolts onto the motor Could it be the oil pan has shifter or what else could be back there to leak. It started this on Wednesday. IDk let me know what I should look for guys. Thanks.

A guy came to my work today and he just bought this 02 bmw 328i three weeks ago; it's a sweet car really. 5spd, great condition, except for a oil leak he had noticed by the burnt oil smell coming from his hood.

I looked at it, and told him it's his rear main seal and he just about cried right there in front of me. A grown man! It was kinda weird.

Thanks man I would not cry as it is not that bad just a lot work to get too. Drop exhaust, drive shaft, transmission, clutch and flywheel. I wish I had new headers to put on since I am going in there eventually. Oh well with all the stress of tring to open a new cell phone store working on the Z is theraputic and I need the therapy.
