oil change on a transmission....

Hey guys... question.... when do I change oil on my transmission? or i just leave it cuz i heard if it was never changed its better not to do it at all.I had a audi a4 and at 70K changed the oil on a transmission and 2K miles later it died.

im guessing its automatic.we changed atf about 30,000.it gets reallly dirty.we use a machine to fully flush it.drain and refill doesnt get it all but better than nuthing.mileage does matter.dont wait till its too late.

Thanks for the answer.Ok one more question.... I bought my car when it had 62K miles. The transmission doesnt act up, it drives perfect but is there any way I could find out if the oil was changed on it? I was told by bunch of mechanics that if you never changed the oil on your transmission and now you got 70 or 80K its better not to change it at all.So now I'm kinda afraid to do it cuz if it dies ill be pissed off.thanksralph

pull out the stick and look at it,if its clean then it was changed.just change it you should be ok

they do? usually jatco trannies are pretty good...
