As far as I know, Nissan unlike Ford and others never back specked their older 2.5s to run 0w20. Specifically my 09. Ive searched lots of engine schematics and honestly can’t find any difference in tolerances from an 09 2.5 to say a 2015 that recommends 20wt. Has anyone here successfully ran 0-20? My drivetrain has around 50k and resides in northern Ohio, so in addition to a little extra mpg the 20wt would be a huge asset in January February and sometimes November and March lol. I’ve heard of dealers putting 20wt in just about everything but have no first hand testimony from any local dealers. I may start out with 4qts of 5-30 and a qt of 20 just to see what happens, or use pennzoil platinum 5-30 which is essentially a heavy 5-20. I do the like the cold flow of 0wt especially when it’s negative 5 in January. Luckily I have around 250 qts of various 20 and 30 weights to experiment.

We've had several customers with gen4's try out 0W synthetic and it seems to work fine. Viscosity issues generally happen with too thick and not too thin, specifically the IVT solenoids wigging-out in cold weather.

So you’d have no issue running 0-20 in an 09? I figure today’s 0w20 is light years better than 5-30 was 12 plus yrs ago.

True also. Yes, I'd have no issue.
