Hubby was out of town last night so I iced down some beers, turned on some tunes and did an extensive detailing. Darned if something that I thought was just a bug splatter wasn't a deep gash in my bumper! I remember a car throwing a flattened can up at me but I thought I had dodged it. This makes me SICK! Other than a few rock chips, Z-Bo was flawless. I guess I'm lucky it didn't break my headlight!

Finished results. Hoped to get a coat of Zaino on, but daylight wasn't cooperating with me.

Yeah, road debris sux. In my Maxima I was headed down to a drag racing event with a bunch of other NICOnauts. A bit before the highway exit, during a section where the road was being worked on and had barriers on each side, a pickup truck carrying aluminum cans was spewing them all over the road. I had the car in front of me kick a couple up which hit my passenger side fender. I had multiple marks like you show above. I was slightly pissed and the truck driver simply didn't care.

Arrrrrrg! I can't believe how deep it is and I really can't believe how thick paint is! I'm going to try to find me one of those touchup people that go around to dealerships and see if they can fix it. I surely don't want the whole nose repainted.

You can get some touch up paint and do a few coats to fill it in. Then use the Turtle Wax scratch repair kit to smooth it back down and blend it in

That is what I'm going to try to do. If I can just get the black part silver, I can smooth out that rough part. I'll post a pic if it does good.

Sorry to see/hear!!!
I've never been able to do a great job spot painting and blending, but do know coloring that black to silver will made a world of difference!

When I bought my G, Infiniti just mailed me one. I just called Nissan and I have to go by and order some and it will take about a week to get it in. Darned being the peon part of the company.

I'm sure it won't look great, but at least I can make it look better than it does.....I hope!

I would check Ebay, probably faster....and cheaper.
They used to have a Nissan touch up pen that you could not get at a US dealer.

Oops. Read this too late. Already have hubby going to the dealer to order me one. It is only $10. Said they order them from Sherwin Williams and they mix it for them.

Interesting. There's a Nissan part for it. And an Infiniti one for the Gs et al. My color cost $14 at the dealer for the OEM.

I find my PC 7424XP and Meguiars M150 and M250 indispensible for touch up jobs. For best results you need to get the clearcoat pen as well as the color one, and do polishing after the color coat and again after the clear.

Thanks Mudge. Hubby was off Friday and went to order it for me. He said the guy was a real a-hole and said it would take 3 weeks to come in. I ain't waiting 3 weeks to fix it.

I'll have to talk to the sales manager about that. He and I are pretty good buds.

So, Becki, how's this working out? The Mudgess's WRX is due back from the body shop on Tuesday. Somebody slammed the passenger side rear door at either her office, the Y, or the grocery store. I'm figuring the office, because it was the day that the company announced it was liquidating. Somebody was probably leaving upset and distracted, which is understandable. Not leaving a note is pretty much d!ck, though.

At this point, I have dabbed the boo-boo with the touch up paint 3 times leaving plenty of time in between for it to dry all the way through. I had to get it thick enough to fill the hole. (paint is THICK) Hopefully, one night this week I can get out some kind of scratch remover and see how smooth I can get it all buffed out. Will post an "after" pic.

BTW, the paint was only $8 and I had it in less than a week.

You're doing it right, layering it on like that. Hope it comes out invisible, or close to it.

A little searching on LS1 forums turns up some posts that Trico 24-9r works. But a lot of folks say your best bet is to spring for the wiper arms for a 1998 model, which don't need the reverse hook blade. This also appears to resolve a wear problem with a spring that can cause areas of non-contact of the blades.

Thx Mudge. Doesn't matter if they work or not. Don't drive it in the rain. The ones on it have dry rotted and split. Not very show-worthy.

Can you believe this CRAP!!!!!!! F250 threw a rock up at me today on the interstate. It was so big I could see it. Nailed me right in the middle of my hood then hit the windshield.

Made a bad place right smack dab in the middle of my hood. I'm just SICK! Didn't crack the windshield though. I'm surprised. Sounded like a bullet hitting the car.

 Sympathy here. Happened to me soon after getting the G. Mine did $350 worth to the hood and cracked the windshield. No deductible on the glass, would have been $200 on the hood. I paid the $350 out of pocket to avoid having it on Carfax.

I share the feeling, but have had to come to terms with the fact that you just can't keep them pristine if you have to drive them on interstates.

My wife got her WRX back from the body shop yesterday from a "door ding" repair. It seems that the day her company announced it was liquidating, one of her co-workers hit her car in the parking lot and didn't leave a note. This "ding" required replacing the door.

Today she has the sad task of driving it back over there to clear out her office. Hope nobody hits it.

Yuck. Sorry she lost her job mudge.

David had to lay off a bunch of people once and his company paid a body guard to sit outside our house 24/7 for a whole week. Folks go crazy when they lose their job.
