the turbo itself is good...i have had no problems with it at all...it is a bit larger than I was expecting though...i'm not hitting full boost until around 5kish...so i'm going to sell it and go a bit smaller. But the quality is pretty good so far.

I'm in. I've been busy the past two weeks with building a deck so I haven't had time to post my pics up. Give me a few days to catch up.

far from "baller", but here she is.

just your run of the mill GT3076R.

she moves pretty good though. from a roll atleast.

im seeing lots of big turbos in here now. are we starting to become a force to recon with?

Why not go dual 300ZX TT fuel pumps?

Details on this? I've been trying to filter out noise on these sensors for my AEM logs

That would likely work as well. Just that the specs on the 044s are well known, and I want to make sure they don't fall off at high pressure like my 255s are doing now
Booztd 3 wrote:Details on this? I've been trying to filter out noise on these sensors for my AEM logs
Yup the knock sensor reading on the AEM EMS (and most for that matter most EMSes) is essentially useless, its as useful as the "knock reading" from an SAFCII. Its actually very sad because honestly the knock reading is one of the most important signals when WOT tuning, and without it you are essentially shooting in the dark.

Reason being knock will not show up on the EMS:A) Knock presents itself as a FREQUENCY not a simple 0-5V as the EMS is using.B) Many dB lower than a 0-5V range, i.e. in the mV range. Remember a knock sensor is essentially a microphone attached to your engine block listening for essentially inaudible knock among tons of other noise.

I am a firmware engineer by trade with a pretty decent knowledge of hardware as well. So I just have to finish up a circuit I am building which sets the proper gain for the stock RB knock sensor as well as performs a windowed DFT on the knock signal to look for the specific knock frequency. It will then convert the DFT results into a standard 0-5V signal that I can use in the EMS.

Or you can save all that complicated trouble by making up some DET cans (i.e. knock head phones) so you can physically hear the knocking.

DET cans don't even compare to a real time digitally processed signal (or even through a good analog filter)... not even in the same league.

Essentially the circuit I am building is exactly what is built into most "modern" ECUs/PCMs, and the circuit that is missing from most EMSes. There is a very good reason the manufacturers are tuning by filtering the signal with processors and not a set of DET cans. Hell the SAE900488 paper is almost 20 years old and is light-years more advanced and accurate in determining knock than a set of DET cans.

255's suck ***...they burn up easily and dont flow worth a garbage

1 300ZX TT pump will flow ~600rwhp on gasoline.....at battery voltage

no shiit. i wasnt referring to mine. i got the 30r because i hate peaky, laggy boost. this car has taught me alot. and one thing i learned, is that i hate most turbo powerbands. i spend 99% of my time behind the wheel of my stock M20 E30. N/A from here on out.

What was your 60 ft time? did you buy that car from a guy in Florida? That engine looks like the one skylineking.com had a while back. Sick car i wish i would have got a 26 instead of a 20 but i did the swap 6 years ago so im still working with what i got.

Yea its really only useful for people with an EMS, since the knock sensor input sucks on them. If you are on a stock ECU or ROM tuned ECU this circuit (in simplified form already exists for you). But yea I can make a few extras for people with an EMS once I am complete with it. I'll sell it for the price of parts + a little time to put together if you want. I'll post up probably sometime during the winter when I get more time to work on it and complete it.

I hear ya on that. I've personally had 2 of them slowly die on me on in an old DSM of mine and the other in my first RB20 swapped S14. Yea I may consider the TT pump, the important spec really is the volume of flow over rail pressure.... If you look that up on a 255 you will see why they suck. Sure they flow 255lph at like 40psi, but at 70psi that number drops dramatically to around 175lph. So basically under boost they start to die off pretty bad.

It was either a low 2.1 or high 2.0. The car couldn't get traction to save its life... But once it got going it went. I think it gained 30mph in the back half! And yup this is the car from skyline king/ international drag. They did all the swap work, I did the tune, and cleaned up a bunch of issues with the car. But yea they did the majority of the work on it... and generally did a very good job I might add. BTW, you gotta a helluva setup on the 20 tho yourself, keep us posted on how it turns out.

I have an AEM ems and I always knew the knock pickup was very quiet to be useful. If you are going to make them post it up on the AEM ems board. I'm sure others will buy.

well my first one was a 05' honda 600f4i with exhaust, and programmer and i beat him by 6 cars with out even brake boosting.

and the second one was an 07' kawasaki 600 with a programmer and got him by 4.

and i am have a real hard time believing a stock rb20 240 beating fuel injected 600cc bike.

Its not my fault you guys cant drive then....I dont really care if you guys believe me . I work on motorcycle for a living and some to the normal customers would joke about my car looking like a **** bucket and i got tired of it so one night when we closed up i followed them when they went on their cruise and raced a couple of them.

Edit....Tisk, tisk, tisk, more people under estimating the little ole 20
