Cool... what about me???

What gives??? I have OEM HIDs on my car.

Also, does anybody have a Phillips OEM light bulb that want to sell to me for cheap?

My bad Blanco..what kind of bulbs did you change out the OEM ones with? I would suggest buying another set of bulbs if it's feasible. I may have an extra OEM around, but I really would suggest buying a matching set. I wouldn't put bulbs in the car that don't have matching hours on them..

Ya, I thought about getting another set of 55 watts but I need to figure out what the problem is with the one side being brighter than the other, cuz there's no sense in me getting another set of bulbs if the same thing's going to happen, u feel me? That's why I figured if push come to shove I'll just go back to the OEMs since I didnt have this problem, which is what I was trying to do but somehow I broke/burned/damaged one of the OEM bulbs...

So any ideas why one side is brighter than the other?

I bought them off ebay, they look very similar to the OEMs shapewise but obviously some knockoff brand.

Just an FYI Blanco. ALL bulbs are 35w. What makes them 'hotter' is the 55w ballast which your OEM's are 35w. At least that's what DDM Tuning told me but they might have been referring to the stuff they sell specifically.

Oh ok, you're right, I just checked the OEM bulb I have at hand and it says 35w. Well, the bulbs I have at 35w and 6000k light outpout is sorry. And the guys on the 300zx forum say that the 55w DDM kit for 300zx light output is almost twice as much as the 35w, thats why I figure to go with 55w bulbs for my M, so I'm guessing I cant do this?!?!

You can, but you'll need to take out your OEM ballasts (that's your 'bottle neck' if you will in this scenario).

Swap out your entire OEM HID kit with a 55w DDM Tuning Kit (what I'm running) and you'll be good to go. You could actually probably make way more than you spent on a DDM kit selling your OEM stuff on EBay depending on what brand Infiniti used. Morimoto or something Japenese like that usually fetches good money for all those retrofitters who want OEM quality.

Ya, well, I think I just want to figure out why the one side is brighter than the other and if I cant, I'll just try to get an OEM bulb and go back to stock 4300k. Seems like a hassle taking the OEM ballasts out and all that crazy stuff, but thanks.

Why is one headlight bulb brighter than the other? Anyone?

Ballast losing power? Getting weak? Or bulb.

Blanco, my guess would be you just got a bad set of bulbs..I highly doubt anything's wrong with your ballasts..like Ilyakol said, you would have to change out the OEM ballasts in order to get the 55w..it's a PITA and I wouldn't bother going that route

You need to get 1000k more on 55w than you would on 35w because the higher wattage washes the color out.

No, it just won't be as bright as 55w. HID's are still bright in the proper headlight (ones with a projector like ours).

I have an 08 M35 and I'm trying to remember if there is a light behind the yellow strip on the outside of the headlight lens. My car is in the shop for several more days so I can't go look. Can anyone tell me if there is a bulb behind the amber plastic shown here: (and if so, what bulb?)

Thanks, hopefully I can use 194s there which I think are about the same as 168s. So is that location missing from the list for 06-10 M's? infiniti-m-bulb-size-chart-t506295.html I can't figure out which one of those it would be unless it is the same as the "parking light". I always thought the parking light was referring to the small bulb near the high beam bulb.

Another lighting question - does anyone know how to get the kick plate apart to change the bulb? Some guys here help-sos-relentless1-or-anyone-t536460.html also want to do it but afraid of breaking something...

So my left headlight is going out at times, them comes on later. Almost like the bulb is loose. Think I should get all new ballasts (55w) and bulbs, or just try and get a new bulb and make sure it is in tight?

you should be able to just pry it from the side...with a little pressure the housing will give way and come off..that's what i had to do to change my bulb out

OK, guess I'll give it a shot with a screwdriver. That cover sure seems like it is on there tight, almost as if it is glued or something.

you only have to pry open the housing of the side marker turn signal light if you want to remove the orange piece.
if you just want to change the bulb, you just pop it out--lift up the side closest to the trunk and then slide it back towards the trunk--it's held in by plastic clips, then you can remove the bulb.

I think I may have misunderstood the photo above, I thought that was the sidemarker light on the front fender. Maybe it is, that's what the OP'er said. But it doesn't look the same as mine. Mine seems longer and more narrow.

Here's my fender light that I cannot get opened:
Image

So on the fender light above, I used a wide thin putty knife to try to pry the clear cover off the back, and it started to chip the clear part. I looked at it in a dissecting microscope, and it looks to me like the clear cover is glued to the gray back piece. Since it is exposed to the weather, it wouldn't surprise me if they glued it shut. I'm not sure if heating it in an over would allow it to come apart or what... I know people have talked about changing out the bulb on the fender light but I can't get the housing apart!

Car Model: '08 M35

Low Beam:
stock HID

High Beam: sylvania 9005 silverstar ultra
(not that impressed, was hoping they would be whiter, closer to the low beam color)

Fog Light:
Xentec HID conversion kit, 5K
(cheap kit but it is working so far! For $35 shipped I didn't have much to loose)

Interior: all stock for now, will upgrade eventually

Exterior:
-parking light near high beam: V-LEDS Part ID: 194_13_SMT_W_5K
-front side markers @ corners behind the amber piece: V-LEDS Part ID: 194_13_SMT_W_5K
-front turn signals: Stock, I tried these
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0744256906
but they were only about half as bright as the stock incandescent, so I am returning them.
-front fender turn signals: I wanted to put clear LEDs here but I cannot get the light housing opened. I'm pretty sure it is glued shut. Has anyone changed these out and if so how did you open the housing??
