I bought some fog lamps on Ebay. They are ugly and the quality sucked. I'm going to return them.

ON A BETTER NOTE - I just got an email back stating that the factory Nissan Fog Lamps should be in this April.

I'll keep you all posted for when the DO come in and when I get mine.

why are you going to pay the hefty price of like $300 for OEM fogs when you can get some good quality fogs at your local auto parts store for about $45?

I went to auto zone and advance auto parts last week and am still yet to get any fog lamps, they both had the same selection they all just had the ones with the blue glass nothing else. Clipsed i think i will end up getting yellow projectors at some point though i think ill stay away from the after market HIDs i think you've all talked me out of that. I don't know if I'd get the ones from the dealer or not I think I'll just wait it out a bit and see what comes out.

I am pacing also!

I want something that looks clean and the connections are perfect. The kit I got on Ebay had a crappy wire connections. The lens don't look sealed that well either.

Nothing is better than OEM.

actually I dont agree with you VersaMitch, although almost all things are better OEM, not everything is better OEM. But in the sense of fogs, fogs are fogs, and well I would rather save the money on buying aftermarket and get an in dash TV . . . o0o wait I did but wiring is not hard, I don't see how connecting 3 wires is hard when it is explained in detail in my how to. I did not want you to not get the HIDs, I was just saying atleast throw them in some sort of projector as to not blind people as badly. I ordered my HIDs yesterday, OEM from an FX35, later on I will be buying an aftermarket 3500K H3 HID kit, and modifying the aftermarket projector housing to be more of a "real OEM type" housing although it will not be.

some ppl truthfully want a cleaner and looks like it came on the car look then just sticking on FOG.

i would be going to OEM only, i have seen the aftermarket on cars, and unless it is molded into the bumper, i am truthfully not a fan.

I want that CLEAN look. I think all the people that put aftermarkets on that are too small or too big for the cut out look stupid. I want my car to look respectable.

The kit I bought online was chincy. The crimps were horrible and falling out of the housings. Nothing was waterproof and living in Seattle, that may be an issue.

I heard from the Nissan Mech. that people were blowing up their Control Modules because of this and Nissan won't warrenty that. Who knows the types of problems that may cause.

I'd rather wait a few weeks and do it right the first time then cause problems. I use to have a clean 12 sec. 200sx se-r. The only way I made it a daily driver and reliable was to do every right.

GOOD NEWS!!!!

Well the factory lamps aren't in yet, but I found out some great stuff. I bought a PDF FSM off ebay and started looking at the wiring of the fog lights.

When I was looking at the list, I was going to my car looking. Behind the glove box is a Body Control Module (the one people are blowing up if wired wrong) and it had a few wires coming out going to the fog lamps. I then went to the fuse box under the hood and found the other end of the wires. Then, I looked deep under the head lights and FOUND THE FOG LAMP CONNECTOR DANGLING!!!

The hunt is still on though. I have a pre-wired car for fog lights but no switch or knob. I still need to investigate where the switch wires are suppose to be. I saw where the go into the BCM but can't find the other end yet.

SO, if you have an SL, look under the headlamps for the pigtails for the fogs. If you got them, like me, wiring fogs will be cake. Once I find where to splice my switch into, I'm GOLDEN!!! I'll keep you all updated on where the switch goes.

I guess I am not the only one who bought a $75.00 set of FOgs advertised on eBay as being a Versa item. When they came they were the worst pieces of plastic junk I have ever seen, "Cheap" doesn't come close to describing what these POS's were. I sent them right back and got a refund without a problem. Bought a set of Piia's off Amazon for $19.95 that are well built, heavy glass lenses, great wiring hook ups and solid chrome. They are still in the box tho, as I too have an SL and have heard there is a factory wiring harness for Fogs somewhere on the car.

When I did a breif look at the set up for instalation, I pried off a plastic Fog light surround peice in the bumper. In the back of the bumper space I could see a plastic connector that looked like it was the plug and play for OEM units.

So Versamitch, I am waiting with much interest to see what else you will find in your hunt for the rest of the OEM wireing that an aftermarket set up could hook up too.

I just finished wiring up an Auto dimming -compass-temp mirror, and running a permanent power suppy for my Valentine One radar detector up to it's spot above the mirror. The Fogs are next.

I just returned from a 5,000 mile round trip to Texas and back with the Versa, and let me tell anyone who has to drive through the Lone STar State, the Texas Smokies are hiding below overpasses, behind buildings, cruising along out of site behind big rigs, and parked in trees beside the roads.... my Valentine-One sniffed them all out well in advance tho, and got home from 12 straight days on the road without a ticket, altho the Texas Troopers certainly tried enough times. The quiet little Versa CVT will sneak up to about 80 mph if you are not watching it all the time, so the V-One searching a full 360 degrees for radar signals is a must-have if you don't like lots of flashing red lights in your rear view mirror. I know the cruise is the best way to 'set and forget' legal speeds, but I take it off for the big hills as the 'Do it or Die Tryin' Versa will red line up out of sight to keep a high set speed pulling up long steep grades, then screaming over the top like an F-14. In between re-sets and constantly changing posted speed limits, I am Radar Bait.

VersaMitch, Who did you buy it from on Ebay? I was about ready to order Xenon fog light kit from Ebay for $72.77. I read an article from Carl C5neb, he bought his from Ebay and had pictures of the installation process. Now Im confuse, it seems like I'd just better wait for the dealer, huh?

There are two seller on ebay with Versa fogs. One sells LED fogs and one that sells xenon fogs. The one I bought was from Autopialighting and they are the xenon type. I am still happy with them. However, I live in Florida so I don't get punished by the winter/spring weather. We do have a fifth season here: hurricane season. That's a different story.

If the Versa is like my 1997 Maxima, Nissan will sell a "fog light kit" It will come with the fog lamp assemblies (which plug directly into harness) and a new light switch stalk that replaces your original with a fog light position. (you won't need a separate switch mounted in your car)

It's a very nice installation, 100% factory and looks way better than aftermarket crap.

Sorry for the delay. The lights I got were from Autopia. They were junk and the harness wasn't even made right. All the contacts were loose and instead of fixing them, they posted pics on their site to tell how to fix their issues.

I would stay away from them because of issues of shorting your BCM. That is that last thing you want to go because that will void your warrenty. It shouldn't be too much longer until Nissan offers the fog light kit with the lights and new switch arm.

Have you guys considered the Hella Micro DE fogs? They are oem fogs on many cars. VW and the such.

I got a pair for my wife's kia sedona. If you are worrying about the gap being too large just cut the plastic out for what the fog needs.

Micro DEs use h3 bulbs and are projector type. You can get them in HID or halogen.

http://www.rallylights.com is where I order all of my lighting upgrades. They are good people and have a lot of info on the lights you want.

That's sweet! I'm glad to finally seen them, but after reading how a lot of people are going with aftermarket ones because they are much cheaper, I'm not so sure as to which ones I want to go with. The cheaper the better, but only while looking nice and of course working right. I have no idea if there would be any noticable difference between the two.

I know this is dumb, but I don't even know how to tell if my Versa is pre-wired for the fogs. Can anyone tell me?

At around $300 thats a hefty price to pay, where even if your afraid to work on your car's electronics I'm sure you can get a shop for do it for under $100.

That is a high price but they told me that they can get them in 3 business days. Don't forget what you are getting though. You get a factory switch with the fogs built in. I would rather pay the extra to have that then to retrofit a switch somewhere on my dash.

The SL has prewiring. I will document how easy it will be to install the factory system. Keep an eye on this post, my lamps should be here in 3 to 5 days.

Seems to me that the OEM fogs are for the SL model only. I was interested in OEM as well but am looking at all the alternatives. The PIAA lamps seem like a good option. Can't find em listed though. Will probably stay away from EBAY lights as no one seems to have anything good to say about em. For everyone that has installed em if you could list the names and where the got them I think that would help us all. Thanks

I asked my dealer a few weeks ago, and they said that the OEM Fogs will most likely NOT EVER be available as as add-on. They must be factory/dealer installed.Someone, please tell me that this is incorrect information!I have the SL and have already checked out the wiring. All I need is the lamps and switch to be good to go.Awaiting good news....

That would make absolutely no sense. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that it would be kind of pointless for them to pre-wire and leave a place for them. I'm still wondering why it took so long for the spoiler to be made available as well as some other add ons that would seem to be offered at launch types of things.
