That must be it - thanks. My 99 Ford Escort did have cruise, which I used all the time, but never had this sensation.Ever Victorious wrote:

I get this a lot cruising down hills. The Versa recalculates its throttle and speed under cruise a LOT more frequently than even older cars with cruise, so it will feel like it's modulating its throttle more often. That's all you're feeling.
hahahaha Reminds me of a great B's song - "The devil's in my car! Whoa! Please leave me alone!"BBISHOPPCM wrote:...Or you could look at it the other way; you may have accidentally purchased the "El Diablo" package, and it's the hand of Lucifer himself pushing you to your death!
The cruise on my motorcycle also has a similar sensation. It doesn't have a electronic throttle, so some of the lag is take-up of the throttle cables.boingo82 wrote:

It's JATCO that you're thinking of:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jatcomotoguy128 wrote:

If you're dad reads a little further, he'll discover that neither Dodge nor Nissan makes their CVT transmissions. It's made by a 3rd party, I don't remember the name. Fortunately the Nissan motors are fairly smooth. All the reviews of the Chrysler products with CVT's are less than favorable. Expeically the Jeeps. The blocks of the 2.4L motors for Mitsubishi, Chrysler, Hyundai, and I thinkg GM are shared. The heads, assembly and final tuning are unique to each makes.
That same goes for the 6 speed automatic on GM, Dodge, Hyundai, Misubishi, and some Mazdas. I think Ford actually makes their own, as does Toyota.
