I just checked out the Injen cold air intake on stillen.com. I clicked on the dyno chart and there is graph (a crappy graph w/ bad resolution) that displays the probable HP and torque gains from the intake. However, the graph is setup to display the 3.5 SE as having just under 200 HP and roughly 190 torque as well. This doesn't make sense since the 3.5 is more in the realm of 270 HP and 258 torque. Think this dyno sheet is phony or am I missing something?

Also, it's my impression that the cold air intake might add maybe 5 or 10 HP, which is basically negligible and would be very hard to notice when driving the car. So I am guessing that the most benefit realized from the intake is that it will help the engine sound a little more aggressive? maybe not though, that's usually a bi-product of exhaust systems as opposed to the air filter.

Another though would be that the altima coupe does put off a lot of heat (it's very noticeable if you stand near either the front or rear of car even after a short drive)... So possibly a cold air intake would increase performance on this vehicle to a greater degree as opposed to others.

Thoughts?

thx

No CAI is available for our cars. The engine compartment is very cramped and one wouldn't fit.

The chart your referring to was talked about previously on this board. The one they tested had CVT. Whomever tested it, didn't know how to operate the CVT on a dyno. If I remember correctly, it's very hard to dyno a CVT properly.

5-10 HP will be noticable. You may not think so, but I assure you, you'll notice it. On all my previous cars ('90 240SX, '94 SE-R, '01 Supercharged Frontier) I noticed a gain in low-end torque. The throttle responds much more quickly and the cars do accelerate faster, well at least according to my butt-dyno.

And besides, who can deny that the INJEN in the engine compartment wouldn't look good? I got the polised one and it'll surely brighten up the bay and give a more aggressive look, not to mention sound. I love the sound of intakes sucking air when you stand outside of the vehicle.

Cool, thanks for all the info.

There was a post in this forum where some dood ordered a CAI for his coupe from the Stillen website,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but then again, maybe I read incorrectly and he referring to his Altima sedan. I keep forgetting this forum isn't restricted to the coupe model only... dur....

thx
