I read many of them! :) Don't understand many of them (esoteric work!), but I try ...

With regards to ODB2, any thoughts on a good, inexpensive scan tool for it? I have been looking at various possibilities (like the links in this post), but have not followed up yet ...

Check out http://www.scantool.net. It's a bit experimental right now with software that is usable but not fully implemented, but if you've got a laptop with a serial port, you can get a lot of interesting info out of your q for about $100.

Pre-Dance Exercise: "We have to first align our dynamic vibration systems with theirs and bring those systems into a kind of confluence before we can build the energy levels through the dance that are necessary to attain the higher vibrationary states which enable us to channel the infinite power of the universe. "

I thought maybe this was your secret to infinite knowledge. :pface

I don't even want to know what search found that web site :D

Ahh the internet... most useful tool invented to date! Now we can analyze this!

Might come in handy when trying to decide which one to kill in retaliation for that new spot on your paint job.

Perhaps not as interesting as their upcoming exhibit, "Hanks & Coils. The Shaping and Placement of Canine Defecatory Structures." Some people. :rolleyes

I missed that last one, for sure! :D

I was reading on my laptop at an airport with a wireless airlink and did not get a chance to get to all of the links you showed.

Funny site! :)

Cool stuff! Thanks! I will check it out sometime soon, when I get a bit of time to spare from work.

When you get a bit of time, you can download their software for free and play with it a bit. Not that it will do much, but you'll be able to see the various engine parameters that this box will grab.

They have some cool plans for the future of their software as well, although like most software projects, it's not progressing as quickly as I think they would like. :)

Also, check out http://www.digimoto.com. They use scantool.net hardware with their software to make a very nice package. It looks like their software is VERY sophisticated and advanced, with graphs and voice status (so that you don't try to look at your laptop while you are driving). $230 for the hardware and software, which is pretty fair.

Disclaimer: I have no association with scantool.net or digimoto.com, have no investment in either, and have not dated anyone related to either company. :)

Has anyone got any experience with those scan tools - Auto Tap, EASE Scanner, Digimoto, etc? For $300 or less, the price is reasonable. Ive read the reviews but some of them are dated and the one for Auto Tap is a bit biased. Also, I didn't see any info about CAN upgrade capability (per Carley's Corner recommendation) in the specs. I have 5 Japanese cars - 3 Infinitis, 1 Nissan and 1 Toyota and the scanner will definitely help in doing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.

So what type of scan-tool system would work for a '91 Q45? Carly's corner said OBD II was phased in starting in '94. Would it be OBD I??? I don't know the terminology, but I am interested in finding a scan-tool that would work with my vehicle.

OBD II was introduced in the 1996 G50 Q45.

Are the newer scan-tools backward compatible? i.e. would a scan-tool that is OBD II capable be able to read cars with older systems???

So is the Consult made by/for Infinity and Nissan, or is it a tool that works across different makes and models?

Sometimes you can find used [stolen?] Consult I for only $1200-$1500 on ebay. New they are $2500 plus the various memory cards you need. Need special card for active Q.Consult II are more expensive. Both only work with Nissan/Infiniti.

Best to make friends with an independent shop that has one.
