Mine is a 98 too. I know it has something to do with wether the computer is compatible with your motor's sensors or the like for some other cars. Im not 100% sure if this is the same for CA's though. I know a few SR stories of guys having to swap ECU's cause they had a specific motor that would not run with a different number (probably a Kouki).

The numbers indicate different setups. Basically manual or automatic, and whether it uses an 02 sensor or not. The latter case is probably irrelevant unless the seller is from the UK.

More to the point, it may not be a good idea to use a pre-tuned ECU unless you know the exact setup of the car it was tuned for and you can replicate it and the octane of the fuel it was intended to run with. Otherwise (if you're set on the stock ecu) you'd be better off taking a stock ecu and getting it chipped for your car.
