Not changing Gear!

I have a 1993 Nissan 240SX, Its an automatic. Ever since I bought it, it's had this one glitch. Once in awhile, not always... it doesn't want to shift into the next gear. It stays into first gear, I then have to pull over, turn off the car then I start it again and it's fine. Does anyone know what is causing this problem?

I would check and clean the connection on the trans harness, clean grounds. The shift point are electronic, but it could be an internal problem like a shift solenoid.

I believe its the TCU. My vert has done it for years. If you put it in neutral, you can restart while rolling and its not so much of a hassle. I dont think it would be hard to swap out the computer if you wanted.
