I am currently changing the rear CV joints on my 1985 porsche 944 and i went looking for a website that might be even half as good as this site. No luck. So if someone happens to know a good 944 forum let me know.

Of course, if anyone has any advice on changing my CV joints im all ears. Ive gotten 5 out of 6 of the internal spline bolts off of the transmission side of the axel (the 6th one is stripped round, i dont know how im going to get it out), and im wondering if i have to remove the wheel side of the axel. The hub bolt wont come off, even with my electric impact wrench. Do i need to remove the hub bolt? My Haynes just says remove the bolts and drop the axel. Yeah, like its EVER that easy. And i have the 6 volume service manual, but it doesnt say a word about the rear CV joints. Im getting extremely frustrated.

Again, i know this has nothing to do with 240's, but ANY help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I can’t remember if the 944 has yokes. If it does grind of the head of the bolt and your axle should drop down. Remove the nut on the wheel side and pull the axle out. Pop out the yoke with the cut of bolt in it and get the rest of the bolt out on the bench with a tap and die set.
