It's been a long while since the NOPI Nationals was the largest car show in the country, having a good run from 1988-2007. In 2008, the event lost its name and moved to a smaller venue in collaboration with another sanctioning body. We attended, had a good time, but it wasn't the same as days of past.

All that has changed for 2012. NOPI is back and holding the NOPI Nationals at the Atlanta Dragway on September 22-23, 2012. We've been asked to come back to the show, and we are excited to do so!

If you have only been around on NICO less than 3 or 4 years, you might not be familiar with the show. But let me tell you, it is one you need to be familiar with. The NOPI Nationals had grown from a small show for Volkswagens that was held at the NOPI store in Marietta in 1988, to a massive show for all vehicles with well over 100,000 attendees in 2006 and 2007 and over $100k worth of prizes and awards.

Obviously, after a 4 year hiatus, 2012 will not be a record breaking show, and we know that. However, with your help in participation we hope to work with NOPI to grow the show back to where it was in only a couple years.

As in year's past, we will once again be competing for the largest club at NOPI. We have won the award nearly every year that we participated, and the years we didn't win we came in a close 2nd. Let's not let that slip away again. Let's conquer this thing!

NOPI will be adding NICO as an official club of the event shortly, so make sure when you register you choose NICO as your club affiliation. We'll be posting more info on the event as it gets closer, but for now, mark it on your calendar and prepare to have the time of your life!!

NOPI NATIONALS Supershow - Atlanta - Sept 22-23, 2012 - Atlanta Dragway

ImageImage

NOPI NATIONALS is returning Sept 22-23, 2012. We hope this is welcome news and that you and/or your club will make plans to attend.

It’s at a new venue: Atlanta Dragway. It’s a world class Drag Racing facility that’s just as large as the former venue. It’s location is about 60 miles north of Atlanta. There is a link on the website that shows hotels, restaurants and shopping all within 1 mile of the track so it’s not in the middle of nowhere. All car show participants will also have the option to drag race their vehicles if that’s of interest to you.

100 Show Classes: This will be a "WINNERS ONLY" car show. The number of winners per class will be determined by the division and the number of entries in each class. Details are on the website. There will aslo be a "Best of Show" chosen for each of 3 divisions with a special award and $1000 each. All awards are custom crystal glass awards.

Car Clubs or Web Site Groups:
If your club will be attending, please forward me your club or group logo and link to your website so we can add it to the “club participation” page on NOPINATIONALS.com. Email info is on the Club Participation page of NOPINATIONALS.com

More details will be posted as they become finalized at:
NOPINATIONALS.com

I just booked at the Best Western as well. We are going to claim that as the official "NICO" hotel. For a reduced rate, mention you are there for the NOPI Nationals.

Here is the address and phone number:

157 Eisenhower Drive Commerce, GA 30529
(706) 335-3640

We'll see you guys there!

If you are Active Duty Military and go to the best western site and book it there you will get even cheaper rates. Just have to have your military id. FYI

I will be coming out of hiding and coming down to the show hoping to bring back some of the memories from the past lol. I just registered today and it looks like there are plenty of spots available for the show which I hope is not going to be reflective of the turnout to expect. Either way, if the show sucks I will just find other ways to have fun in Atlanta. Regardless I figure I can catch up with some old friends

LOL, I will actually be bringing a Nissan down but don't expect anything spectacular because all my credible cars are still tore down (shocker  ). I will be driving my daily driver (Maxima) down just to come out to the show. However, it will be sporting new performance parts cause I am in the process of installing I/H/E on it :naughty: I can't leave well enough alone

You still sporting the G Torry?

No, sold the G. Have a Juke and Celica All-trac now. I brought the All-trac to NICOFest at the Dragon last week, and I'm bringing the Juke down for NOPI.

Those Celica's are very cool  I bet it was a lot of fun to drive on the dragon.

Hopefully we get a good turnout for the show as a whole. I would love to see it back to its former glory (I guess its the nostalgia aspect for me since I had done that show for so many years).

Well it was a fun weekend and its always enjoyable to catchup with everyone since I haven't been active in a while. Hopefully the show got enough of a turnout to warrant having it another year next year.

I will try to post some of my pictures once I get a chance to edit them. I didn't get back home till about 9PM last night so I haven't really had much of a chance to do anything honestly. Started to watch the Monday Night Football game and fell asleep
