Hey guys,I have a really dumb question. I've been wanting to take my truck offroading for a while now but I never fully understood how to get the truck into 4WD. It's a 5 speed, so I'm not sure if the process is different for automatics or not. I'm getting slightly worried that my 4WD might not work because as far as I know, it has never been used  Could you give me the instructions on how to shift this baby into 4 wheel mode? Thanks.

First, determine whether or not your truck has auto or manual locking hubs. Manual has a movable dial in the center of the wheel hub on the front while the autos simply have a solid cover. If you have manuals, turn the dial to lock them in.

Shift your trans to neutral or depress the clutch. Lift the shift lever between the seats to 4HI.

Shift into gear and drive. After a short distance the 4x4 light on the dash should illuminate.

To go back to 2WD simply stop, move the center shift lever back to 2HI. If you have manual hubs, unlock them. With auto hubs, put the truck in reverse and move approximately 3 feet rearward to disengage the hubs. Now you are free to drive.

That's the basics of it- give it a shot.

So I do have the automatic hubs. So they should lock up automatically right as I shift into 4WD correct? The only trick is unlocking them when I shift back into 2WD?
