The biggest differences is the rev-up version has Variable Timing Control on the exhaust cams as well as the intake cams. But unlike the intake VTC, the exhaust VTC uses a 3 step cam phasing where the intake VTC is infinitely variable between it's min and max points. The intake plenum is somewhat different as well. The internals are a little stronger on the Rev-up as it needs to deal with a little bit higher tensile loading created by the higher piston speeds.
While the peak torque is 10 less than the non-rev-up, it makes more than 10 ft-lbs of torque more at their respective peak HP. Even moreso at the rev-up motor's peak RPM vs the non-rev-up at that same RPM. Coupled to the higher revs available and more torque at those RPm's, the rev-up version will lose a little less steam as it approaches redline.
