jon and i hooked it up, but for some reason my ecu stays on constanly and the rev/speed meter will not shut off.. and i still get no rpm readout....

that blows. I have the apexi rev/spd meter on my car and I have not had that problem. Mckinney did the harness, but I wired in the Rev/spd meter using the instructions that it cam with for a R33 RB25DET. works like a champ, but only reads in kmh, which is why I am always on the hunt for a new speedo solution.

thats the only thing i dont like its khm but i just need it for RPM, but i cant even get taht ha.. ya McKinney did mine, and i hooked it up just like how it shows in the manuel but mine still dont work so ill prolly ask them 2 look at it..

Probably a question for GTR Shop...

I'm having a few problems with the tach on my UK spec RS13 RB25DET (CA18DET originally) at the moment. I have a rpm signal at the ecu and also at the dashboard plug but when I plug it in the back of the cluster the tach needle doesn't move at all.

Do you need the pull up resistor to get some cars to actually read the signal or only for helping re-calibrate from 4 to 6 cylinders ?

Mambastu: You will need a resisitor to get it to work. You wilalso need to recalibrate... either that, or get a C33 Laurel tacho and bolt it in.

i didnt need the resistor to get it to read...

all i did was find the right plug from the ECU. on my ecu there were 2 plugs with the yellow/red wire. only one of the plugs actually worked. i think it was the plug furthest from the ECU. just try it, i didnt need the resistor to get the tach to read....the only problem is it reads 1.5x higher :(

frosted,You can adjust the tack. pull it off and bend the gauge face forward. Their is an adjustment, it is a metal reing with a tab sticking out. Grab the tab and crank it clockwise till it stops.

It will still be screwed up above about 5500, but IDLE and up to that will be really close.

Just to clarify a point, many people on this board live in a country where the closest C33 Laruel parts car is about 5,000 miles away and the CA18DET never appeared in the S13.

The people on thisboard also live 5000km away from the closest RB20/25/26 parts.. ;)

Thanks, I'll give the resistor a go at the weekend :)

We didn't get the C33 over here either :(

5000km is an improvement from 5000 miles. :)

But the closest Laurel relative to me is still 5000 miles away!

I tryed the pullup resistor like you said to do it. It didn't work. I'm not sure if it is because I have a tach from a SOHC KA24E

Can I take voltage measurements from the RB20 and Voltage measurements from KA24E and compare them. They make the approptiete resistence choice. Or am I not on the right track

KA24E cluster dont work, you have to use a DE cluster. This is of course only if you want the Tachometer function.

sry I know this is a old thread but. The link does not work. And I really need pics on what wires am I hooking up. My problem is the whole entire cluster dont work. The gas gauge, rpm, speed, and car temperature. I need pics on what wire took hook up too. ty
