I went to have my emissions test for my 2009 Nissan Versa so I could renew my registration for the State of Oregon. When they placed their tester into my ODB they couldn't get a connection. The guy said it could possible be the fuse and that often that fuse is also for the cigarette lighter/data port. My data port is working because I charge my phone with it when I'm driving. Does anyone have any suggestions before I take it to a mechanic? Thanks!!

Check every fuse on the car. Use your owners manual to help find where all the fuses are. Likely the emission guy is right you have a fuse blown. Needle nose pliers and a flashlight. Just pull them one at a time it seems like it would take forever but it goes quick.

Obviously pull one at a time and put it back after as to not mix them all up****<

I pulled each one and found it. Replaced with a new one and took it for the test and passed. Thanks. Oddly enough after pulling, checking, and placing back virtually every fuse, my radio won't work. Checked all fuses again and all are good. Unless there's a hidden fuse in the radio I'm at a total loss.

Good deal.

No radio now. Well pretty much ever car i've worked on has the radio fuse clearly marked on the fuse covers. It normally is fused by itself. Occasionally a fuse will look good but have a hairline fracture or just appears to be good.

Besides just replacing the labeled radio fuse. Sometimes there is a reset button on the face of radios even factory ones. Its normally just a really small hole you stab a paperclip or the like into.

There is no fuses in the radio. Aftermarket radios normally have one on the back.....tho....

Maybe its time to upgrade the radio. I just tore my perfectly good radio for another just to have aux input for the phone.

Good luck.
