nor ANY of my topics for that matter!!

ppl always tell me to search, and i always search b4 posting, but i post because SEARCHING DIDNT WORK!! what would be the point to haveing a forum, if all everyone told u to do was "SEARCH"

i can guarantee EVERY question has been asked once, so why dont we all just reply with "JUST SEARCH!"

but, *sigh* if anyone wants to help, i need a SIMPLE answer..im still confused about s13 VLSD vs s14 ok, i have a 1995 s14 SE.my car has NO ABS and NO VLSD.

Theres another car, a 1993 240sx SE hatchback with 98000 KM, this car has LSD, and ABS, along with the 4 wheel steering

could i take the VLSD out of it and directly bolt it in mine??

and finally, what should i look for to make sure that the VLSD is ok??

thanks to all who reply

i'm in the same boat. i do believe tho that the s13 VLSD is a direct bolt up. i kno the output flanges need to be changed if you put a J30 or 300zx lsd in, but i'm sure the s13 lsd will work w/ no extra modification.

I really don't know much about the VLSD, but I figure if you have a s14, I don't think a s13 will fit. W

I can tell you this, buy the VLSD and try to put it on, if it don't fit, I have a s13, and I'll buy it from you. How's that.

s13 and s14 really aren't that much different. they'll work. about 90% sure they do. why wouldn' they? only different is interior, maybe a few inches on body length, and the body itself. the motor, rear end, transmission's, all will go from one car to the other.

It wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to me if it didn't work. What's this? Your post has been answered by some people? Really? Sweet.

If you get a 300zx lsd, be sure to get one off a non-turbo z. As the turbo's have a taller gear ratio which will kill your acceleration but raise your top end. The non turbo's have the same 4.08 gears as a stock 240.

As far as not answering anything, very few worthwhile questions are asked anymore. : ( There's nothing I can answer... The bolt pattern on the LSDs is different for S13 and S14, but if you swap the rear cover you can use it on either or. : )

Sense you are talking about getting a lsd that has abs you may need to change out the input shaft on the lsd unit with the one from your open unit. Because the abs sensor on the input shaft makes it a little longer, the drive shaft is shorter. Which well make it not fit with your longer non abs drive shaft.

You could either change the drive shaft or input shaft.

I'm not 100% sure about this on the s13's but i know the s14's have different drive shaft lenghts.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

I have a late 94 J30 LSD, and it has the abs part. 99.9% of the time the stock driveshaft fits, you just have to push it back a little, it has enough play to allow this. This is how mine is working. S13 lsd and non lsd diffs have 4 bolt cover plates, S14 have 2 bolts. Easy cover swap, get a gasket while your at it. Also the end shaft output flanges should be 3 sets of 2 bolts on an S13 and S14 have 5 star pattern of 1 bolt.

Well I stopped posting because the questions were rather redundant and plain and I got lazy.

Anyways to answer your question, I believe all US/Canadian VLSD differentials are interchangable. You only need to swap the cover of the differential since the s14's have two bolts to hold it up to the frame instead of four.

Actually the main reason not to use the TT z32 rear end is that its not a r200v like in ours (the j30 and na Z), but a r230v (iirc). The 3.69 ratio in it is secondary to that fact.

The s14 silvia / 200sx uses a r200v but with the same final drive as the TT-Z32 (3.692) in manual trim, and the same final as the J30 (3.916) in auto trim.
