I have a 1990 Nissan Nomad with many issues.
Firstly I have repaired a heater hose, lights locks, and a handful of little bits and pieces.
I have had to also fix the fuel gauge as it wasnt registering any fuel. This part i took to the mechanic as i dont have a clue how to fix.. that wasnt cheap
THEN theres the real problem, intermittant stalling.
I took it in and the mechanic replaced the fuel filter, and I hoped that that would be the end of it
It has continued to do this.. It runs perfectly if its idling, but any load on the engine and it cant take it. It splutters, stalls etc,and i can barely get any speed. Then in 5 mins an hour or the next day,it runs as though there was never anything wrong with it.
I have been quoted anywhere from $250 to $450 to fix the fuel pump assuming that may be the problem. The last guy suggested to steer clear of fixing the fuel pump and to possibly consider the carbie? Or even electronics...there isnt much electronic stuff on this car??
Any suggestions on how to eliminate things without fixing things that MAY NOT be the problem?
