I have an 04 Murano and it was very reliable up to about 70,000 miles, now in the last 8 months I have put about $5,500 in it with anothet $750 in it today and they tell me I have another $1,500 for rapairs in the next few months. I only have about 73,000 miles on the car, so for right now, I would not rate the Murano very high in reliability.

There do seem to be some bad ones. One of our members has had repeated failures of the transfer case seal.

I have a 2oo7 Murano. Seemed fine until I paid it off early at 113k miles. In shop 4 times in last month. 1st: bad or gone bearing in the transfer case. Sheared the transfer case right in half! 2nd: power steering cable leaking, 3rd: bearing in rear differential blew. We have spent $6k so far! Disgusted. Heard that other Murano owners had similar experience. :frown: :wtf2:

We have updated our reliability stats for the Murano to include owner experiences through June 30, 2012.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2011: 19 - better than average

2010: 20 - better than average

2009: 37 - better than average

2007: 78 - about average

2006: 66 - about average

2005: 92 - worse than average on recalibrated scale, small sample size (one car short!)

2004: 81 - about average

2003: 132 - worse than average, small sample size, especially need more of these

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.

These stats for the Murano:

2010: 82, < 1

2009: 77, < 1

We'll have further updates in November and February. With more owners involved we could provide more precise information.

New stuff this time. We've updated our reliability stats for the Murano to include owner experiences through the end of 2014. Plus we've added reliability trends graphs. These indicate how a model's reliability has changed as it has aged, and how different model years performed when the same age.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2012 Murano: 0, low, very small sample size
2011 Murano: 36, moderate
2010 Murano: 16, low
2009 Murano: 19, low
2007 Murano: 70, moderate
2006 Murano: 110, high
2005 Murano: 76, moderate, very small sample size
2003 Murano: 126, high, very small sample size

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2009 Murano: 82, < 1

We'll have further updates in May and in August. We especially need more participants for 2003-2005 and 2012 and up.

I had an 06 Trailblazer with a 4.2l motor and it got as good gas mileage as the Murano which isn't great.

So, how have these cars been doing lately?

Our reliability stats for the Murano now include owner experiences through March 31, 2015. (Others are nearly a year behind.)

In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year ("low" is best):

2012 Murano: 0, low, very small sample size
2011 Murano: 21, low
2010 Murano: 16, low
2009 Murano: 20, low - first year of the second gen
2007 Murano: 83, moderate, small sample size
2006 Murano: 84, moderate
2005 Murano: 74, moderate, very small sample size
2003 Murano: 130, high, very small sample size

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2009 Murano: 78, < 1

Our reliability stats for the Murano now cover the year ending June 30, 2015. (Others are over a year behind, and so report how these cars were doing when a year younger.)

Repair trips per 100 cars:

2012 Murano: 10, low, very small sample size
2011 Murano: 19, low
2010 Murano: 16, low, small sample size
2009 Murano: 30, low
2007 Murano: 77, moderate
2006 Murano: 103, high
2005 Murano: 86, moderate, very small sample size
2003 Murano: 116, moderate, very small sample size

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2009 Murano: 73, < 1

If a model year isn't listed, or its sample size is small, then we especially need more owners involved.

Greatings! I am new to NICO club, but have driven Datsun and Nissan automobiles since 1980. I currently drive a 2015 Murano SL AWD. It has about 62,000 miles. I have experienced two significant issues. CVT failure in October, 2020 at 59,000 miles. Code: CVT Judder. It was replaced by my dealer (Herb Gordon of Silver Spring ,MD) under the extended warranty. After relocating to Charleston, SC in December of 2020, I noticed a clunk from the front end each time accelerated from a complete stop. Hudson Nissan found a worn right front strut mount. Replaced and clunk gone.

Otherwise, I have simply done routine maintenance such as oil changes, etc. The OEM Michelin Latitude tires performed well and lasted the full 40,000 miles. I liked them enough to replace with the same tire. This is the preferred road trip car for my wife and myself. It is more comfortable than the 2012 Maxima SL.
