Starting this month we have a new question to measure, as objectively as possible, the severity of a problem. Many people have been asking for reliability stats that weight problems by how severe they are, and once we have enough responses with the revised survey we'll start providing this.

Also this month: updated reliability stats.

As always, the more owners participate, the better the information we can provide to everyone.

We've updated the results for the Nissan cube to include owner experiences through September 30, 2010. Other sources of car reliability information won't cover the months since April until the summer or even fall of next year.

With a reported repair frequency of 20 repair trips per 100 cars per year, the 2009-2010 cube is better than average.

Thank you, once again, to this forum and everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in February and May. The more owners participate, the better the information we can provide.

New stuff this time. We've updated our reliability stats for the cube to include owner experiences through the end of 2014. Plus we've added reliability trends graphs. These indicate how a model's reliability has changed as it has aged, and how different model years performed when the same age.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2009-2010 cube: 44, moderate

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

Hi,

I have a 2010 Cube and love it! I bought a Nissan extended warranty when I bought the car new. I used it a few times but am not sure it was worth it. Now it's about to expire w/ just under 70,000 miles. Nissan can sell me a new one that covers everything. It's $2,900 and goes for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Should I get it? I plan to keep the car for a long time, and if for some reason I don't, I can be refunded on the warranty based on my mileage and years into it. What do you think? I would love some advice.

Thanks!

Sounds like a lot of money for a fairly simple, inexpensive car. That price might be negotiable. The only thing I'd be concerned about is the CVT.

So, how have these cars been doing lately?

Our reliability stats for the cube now include owner experiences through March 31, 2015. (Others are nearly a year behind.)

In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year ("low" is best):

2009-2010 cube: 42, low

Plus, the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2009-2010 cube: 68, < 1

No stat for a model year? Then we very much need more participants for it. Next updates in August and November.

Our reliability stats for the cube now cover the year ending June 30, 2015. (Others are over a year behind, and so report how these cars were doing when a year younger.)

Repair trips per 100 cars:

2009-2010 cube: 34, low

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2009-2010 cube: 74, < 1

To cover additional model years we need more participants.

We've updated our reliability stats for the cube to include owner experiences through the end of 2015, about eight months ahead of other sources. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year--lower is better:

2009-2010 cube: 21, low

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2009-2010 cube: 81, < 1

I'd like to have stats for other years. With more participants this could happen.
