We have updated reliability stats for the Altima Coupe (on our redesigned site) to include owner experiences through September 30, 2011.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2011: 49, about average, very small sample size

2010: 9, better than average

2009: 33, better than average

2008: 18, better than average

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.

These stats, for the years with enough data:

2010: 89, less than 1

2009: 64, less than 1

2008: 80, 2

Just took the survey. Only running an intake and some after market lights right now. In the beginning when I first bought it, I had to replace all of the TPMS sensors because the o-rings kept going bad. But now, after owning it for almost 2 years, not a single problem has occurred since April of last year. Its such a champion car.

LOL looks like the new 2013s have some kinks to work out for sure.

Ranga14, you could shove this in the face of that Nissan salesman telling you about how other car companies have longer warranties because their parts are more prone to needing repair, while Nissan offers a paltry 3yr/36k on theirs. It's such a joke as I required fixes both small and big on cars just past the 2 year mark @50-55k miles, half that had nothing to do with the drivetrain. /rant

The 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty is unfortunately pretty much standard on most non-luxury brands these days with the exception of Hyundai. Due to my Altima being a '12 I only have powertrain coverage up to 100k miles, whereas the '11 and older models with CVT have powertrain coverage up to 120k miles. The bottom line reality is that cars are simply s*** these days and every brand experiences similar issues with: transmissions, oil consumption, wheel bearings, electronics, etc., it's really a damn shame. :tisk:

This question was always bothering me, and I'm here just to post my experience.
Mechanically this think isn't bad, mine's a used 2008 SL sedan, CVT automatic with 120,000 miles when I bought it $9000+ , now it is 122,000 miles.

Items changed:
1. Driver side A pillar moonroof drainhose, cost $108 to swap at dealership.
2. Driver side front strut leaking, might cost $500. Nissan Baker North Houston charges $800.
3. One bad tire sensor, Costco technicians helped me reset the system, Nissan Douglass College Station charges $160. I ignored it.

I always question the CVT. CVT was on a journal paper in 2006, but it came to life via Jacto Inc. which is Nissans contractor. Rather driven by applied pressure like manual, or hydraulic fans like automatic, it is driven by friction, that 5 layer chain with metal teeth on it, is my fear.

They don't fix the CVT, only swap. It cost $3000 to do it. I guess when the car reaches 150,000 miles and I have the fund to do so, I'll do it. Otherwise, I'll sell it before its' value decrease, and purchase a manual 240sx.

I do not wish to sign up on your website, but as far as reliability goes the Altima Coupe is amazing. I own a 2009 with 43,801 miles on it and it is by far my favorite car. I also own a 2002 Saturn SC2 and a Porsche Cayman S 2010. I find myself driving my Altima more than my Cayman, lol. I've literally has zero problems with this car.

Has anyone with a 11/12 Altima coupe experienced any CVT related problems? I know the 11/12 Altima's powertrain warranty has ben extended to 100k miles. But I'm curious to know how solid the CVT on the 11/12 Altima's really are.

I'm looking to purchase a 2011Altima Coupe with 86,000 for about $9,000
Advice please
