Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum. I have an issue with my 2009 Nissan Altima. My car was recently in a wreck with gas front end damages with front driver Airbag deployed and both front passenger and driver seat belt locked. All cosmetic has been repaired. I replaced the impact sensor by the hood latch, both left and right from seat belts, spiral wire harness cable, Airbag sensor module ( located under arm rest. Looks like a hard drive), and Airbag. The current issues I have is that the Airbag Icon on the dashboard is flashing. I attempt to reset it by using the following steps Below that I saw online. My airbag light now flashes slower but still and flashing. I also disconnected and reconnect the airbag cables under both seats.

Recommended steps from online :
Follow these steps. turn your car on the on position DON"T start the car just turn to on as soon as the air bag light blinks shut it off count 10 seconds (slow). Repeat this 3 time after the 3rd time turn it back on it will blink on a different pattern this is how you know you did it right. Turn it off when you turn it back on the light should be gone.

If the reset doesn't work, then something is still tripping the system.

The module must be clean, that is, unwrecked. They write to a chip when triggered and if you simply replaced with a scrapyard module it may be written to as well. After a crash, the module has to be reflashed clean to be able to be used again. It's a lawyer thing. A 'reset' won't touch that. Module needs to match the car and the bag setup on it as well, and pretty much exactly.

Check the wiring harness connections if there's any physical damage.

The light is likely flashing a code, you need to see what that code is.

I think it may be your clock spring, that's located behind the airbag

You're replying to a 2-year old post, but if you read the OP's description, he replaced the spiral cable. "Spiral cable" and "clockspring" are interchangeable terms for the same part. Amc49 was correct, the ACU writes a permanent "collision" code into its memory whenever it deploys bags, so it must be either replaced with a new or "clean used" ACU or it must be sent to a specialty house that does ACU erasures. I don't recommend the latter because there can be hidden damage to the circuitry during deployment that ACU resetters don't always check for.

If resetting doesn't work, maybe the problem is the airbag itself.

It'll mean there's some sort of code in the system preventing reset, but it's unlikely it's a bag. From a diagnostic and electrical failure standpoint, Nissan bags are as close to bulletproof as any device ever gets.
