I'm down for the motor show and TAS. I think I'm not to far from where they are being held (chiba city right?) so I'll probably just take the train.

Cool. I'm going to try to make TAS this year too. Looks like we might have a pretty good group going.

Next year Nico is looking at setting up a booth at TAS, so we're going to come in numbers for '09. But I'm going to try to make the '08 show to scout it out. I'm pretty sure I'm going unless some unexpected expenses come up in the next couple months.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm planning on crashing at C33Laurel's place unless I end up going with other people...then we'll just get a hotel.

Hopefully I'll be in Japan next year or the year after. I'll be trying to get a design internship with Nissan when they begin to accept applications again. And yes I know...there are many internships over here in the U.S. If I don't get accepted...well I guess I'll just have to stay here or go to another country like England or Germany.

The TMS (NOT themadscientist! LOL) and the TAS are held at Makuhari Messe. How far are you from there. We should meet up sometime.

And yeah, Yakota's house is pretty damned big. Been there a few times. Nice place.

Im like 20 minutes tops from makuhari messe (if I dont get stuck waiting for a train). I'm totally down for meeting, I'm finally getting used to the tokyo train system. I just went to super autobacs, it was awesome zerothread/278569

Anyways, you can text or call me at 080-3128-8954. Its a UK-phone based rental phone so no japanese texting. I'm going to try and get a softbank phone within the week, but for now this is the most reliable way to reach me.

You are moving here, how are you doing that? Are you transfering as a college student, marrying a Japanese national, got a degree to get a working visa from a company giving you a sponsorship?

Just curious.

I also live in Japan and am not in the military, am single, and I am not a college student. I work for the the US Defense Department as a Civilian. There are many contractors and Civilians that live over here as well as military.

There is that, but I would bet that about 95% of the people that come in here saying they are moving to Japan really have no idea what they are getting into, or ar not in your position.

It kills me to think that people just think they can move here and make a life for themselves with really no clue how to do it correctly.

Yes you are right about that. It takes lots of time to get everything straight before you try to come over.
