That was cool as hell to watch - The 240 driver shoulda stayed on the throttle when the R34 went wide - One nudge and he's gone.

I know JACK about "drifting", but seems to me these guys need to find a better line around the course - All that wheelspin and throttle-on oversteer slows them down. Last time I was at Bondurant, some Asian kid started doing that crap with one of the Cobras - And the instructors straight up SCHOOLED his a$$.

Or maybe that's the point of the whole thing? Looks like the sprint cars on the dirt oval at Manzanita Speedway.

Sorry for the stupid correction, but that's a S15 Silvia :-P

and those guys do come out of the corners much faster, plus it looks cool :-P

As far as I know, the D1 Grand Prix or drifiting in general isn't a race in the traditional sense. It's more of a style competition, like watching the X-Games on ESPN. There's no start or finish, nor are they timed. It's just who looks better, who has more control, etc. I know they are judged because Keiich Tsuchiya is one of the main judges. Having the best line around a course isn't a top priority with these guys. I could be wrong though...

sweet! drifting is a spectator sport Greg, not a race.

when there is fresh snow on the ground, thats kinda how i look driving around my block! Just replace the smoke with snow.

that looks like too much fun

OK - Thanks for the clarification Luke, issani, S14, Tino and noob. Makes MUCH more sense now.

I wonder... How the old sprint car guys would do in such a competition? They run MUCH higher HP methanol-burning cars (over 1000hp). That'd be funny to see Mister Bubba Sprint Car Driver from Alabama show up in a bad-a$$ 240 and smoke all those asian guys at their own sport... LOL @ that visual.....

Junior Johnson (old NASCAR driver) used to do that stuff back in the day at Talladega - Except he swapped paint!

haha, are you sure you dont mean african americans. we took over basketball, football, baseball. Three major sports. we still got hockey, nascar and golf to conquer, hell why not add drifting to the list. pardon the puns, heh i just find it funny how in the beginning it these were predominantly white sports, now they are predominantly black, hence we are all equal

LOL - No way. I meant have some whiteboy hilljacks from the backwoods (sprint car & stock car racing began in the South) show up in Japan and try their hand at drifting - Pretty funny, eh?

Good luck with hockey and snow skiing - The Black folks I know hate the cold. :D

Anyone heard of a 4Wheel drift? I seen it mentioned alot in different places, is it true? They say that drifting actually improves your track time.

I'm sure you've all seen WRC races, those guys have inhuman skills. And they do 4 wheel drifting, but only on specific curves. In WRC, it's all about racing the clock, so "drifiting" is beneficial in some cases, not all though.

Yea, black people aren't fair. They have extra muscle in their cabs so they can run faster, jump higher. Anyways, i don't think black people gonna conquer hockey, lol. Golf, maybe, Woods did it, but he considered himself more asian than african american, but he still have to deal with those white tigers. Sprint car is not really a black car, so that is out of the picture. Oh, also, jerry springer is also conquer by Africans, lol.

Where do you guys find all these cool drifter videos?

Our webhost isn't the best when it comes to bandwidth allocation, but on the other hand, we get unlimited webspace so we get to host as many vids as we want. hehe

that was great. any idea how much HP godzilla is putting to the ground/ must be a pretty number to put up smoke like that.

of course sprint cars will only drift with their suspension setup.

though im sure a rally driver could do well in a drifting competition. a dirt track driver might do well (remember sprint cars are run on dirt)

Hey guyz drifting was invinted in japan back in the day when kids were racing the moutian roads there. Originally they tried not to skid or (drift) at all. As time passed it became cool to drift thought the cornners. And that my friends is how drifting was born. **** as for the blacks taking over every sport, asians are right on ur black azz boy. we got yow ming in the nba, tiger playing golf, and we make the best cars around ..:D

Asian, huh? So you shouldn't have any problem spelling Yao Ming's name correctly, right?

When you guys start playing in the NFL I'll be impressed.

240!?!?! 240!?!??!! Away with thyself ye loathsome beast! j/k greg

Oh by the way, we do have a couple asians in the NFL: Dallas linebacker Dat Nguyen, Vikings linebacker Kailee Wong and Steelers receiver Heinz Ward. Granted, very few but we're holdin' it down! I also consider Samoans asians, we're all "reprezentin" the Pacific.

There's a handful of sports asians will ALWAYS dominate: ping-pong (unless the Williams sisters decide to take that up), Sumo wrestling and uh....oh yeah, pool. LOL

the GT-R and GT-S skylines arent the only models. they have like 5-6 different models in japan. the four door models are really cool looking. all VIP and kick your @$$.

and as for black guys taking over drifting, a guy at my school knows quite a bit about it, and im sure he'll start when he gets his car, a 2nd Gen REX from what he told me.
