In 2015, Nissan Rogue unfortunately received 4 stars driver and 3 stars passenger in NHTSA frontal crash test

Nissan immediate says that they are committed to passenger safety and will work on this issue
Today we know they indeed have spent time to improve Nissan Rogue's safety
The newly released test data shows 4 star passenger result Hooray :yesnod
As a bonus driver side dropped from 4 stars to 3 stars. Well done!! Nissan! :dblthumb:

Is that just me? Is anyone else worried about this rating? I think nowadays is hard to find a 4 stars, everything is 5 stars. The 3 stars driver side frontal crash result makes me very worry. When I bought my Rogue, there was no rating on the invoice, really haven't thought about this issue

Yeah, that's a problem. WTF, Nissan?

Not unusual to see a four star rating at all. My 18 Toyota Highlander has two 4 start ratings but is still rated five overall. It is what it is. The last thing I worry about is my vehicles safety rating. Hopefully I’ve done my due diligence before purchase and the pluses outweigh the minuses!

Certainly, not the end of the world, but a lot of questions in my mind now. Couldn't understand why Rogue still got all good rating in IIHS. Is Nissan sending different cars for test or there is big gap between these tests?

The post not to depress anyone. Hope everyone can relax and share thoughts.

It’s in the protocols used by each testing agency. Check both and compare the differences since you have questions. Protocols for each can be found by a google search.

Not a big deal to me. 2018 RAV4 is five stars on NHTSA (four stars for both sides). But when you check IIHS rating, passenger side is actually rated as "poor". They are tested on same year's model (2015). The rating is just the rating.

NHTSA is completely irrelevant, they've been criticized for years about how their tests don't reflect real world accidents and that the safety standards they implement (such as seat back and roof strength) are too weak. IIHS and EuroNCAP are the ones to look at. You can find the Rogue on EuroNCAP as the X-Trail.
