Hi all!

My name's Frank. I'm from Canada and I currently own 2 GTI-R.

I have one beast for summertime (called P1), and one daily driver (you guessed it... called P2).

P1 was bought in April 2006 with minor modifications (catback, turbo timer and 16" wheels). Since then its been through alot of little and big things, including an engine rebuild last spring (2009). I hope to get about 400hp when I get it dynoed/tuned in spring 2010.

P1's current mods include:- Engine rebuild with CP 87mm 8.5:1, Tomei 1.2mm head gasket- Denso 660cc's, Walbro 255, Z32 fuel filter- Z32 MAF with A'pexi filter- Garrett GT3071R 0.86AR @11psi only- Blitz Super Sound DD blow off valve- eBay front mount intercooler kit- 3" AM Performance downpipe, decat and catback with a Dynomax SuperTurbo muffler- Retuned ECU (daughterboard) by Almasi Tuning- ACT NS1-HDSS clutch kit (Superstreet disc + HD pressure plate)- BC Racing coilvers- Optima redtop battery in the trunk- Removed AC- 330mm suede steering wheel- A'pexi Super AVC-R- HKS turbo timer- Rota Slipstream 16" with Falken Azenis 205-40-16- Cleared blinkers all around- Firehawk HID- Recaro front seats

P2 was bought on boxing day 2009 for dirt cheap (750$CAD!!!) and is currently under a little new ownership maintenance (brakes, seals, plugs, oils, coolant, stuff like that). Should be ready to hit the snow next week! Oh yeah!!

P2's current mods include:- A'pexi filter- HKS SSQV blow off valve- Walbro 255- 5Zigen ProRacer catback- No name 14" wheels- R33 GTR driver seat- Momo steering with with quick release hub- Blitz FATT-DC II turbo timer- KYB AGX suspension (half way busted)- ACT 6 puck clutch with HD pressure plate

Well, here are a few pictures of my 2 beasts

P1 the day I've bought it

P1 and it's first time in canadian snow

P1 in the grass

P1 ... underneath

P1 with a buddy's GT-R

After a little polishing job

P1 in the summer morning

P1's totally outdated engine bay shot

P1 face down a** up!

P2 in the garage, just got in!

P2 nasty engine bay

P2's China wheels, strange pattern if you ask me

P2's inside

P2's new driver seat (R33 GT-R) ... freebie in the trunk!

Well that's about it for now...

Yeah they're very uncommon in the US but there are a few owners posting on SR20Forum. We can get JDM imports in Canada because of the 15+ years restriction but it might be about to change soon. In Quebec you cant register any new right hand drive cars since april 29 2009. They should give a final review about this in march or april 2010. Let's just hope they forget that silly idea and just restrict more the import or regulate the dealers who import trash cars. There's a hell of a lot more dangerous cars on the road than the very few (lets say 3000) rhd cars on the Quebec roads. My 94 Civic for example is rusted to hell and is about to fall apart!

Glad you like the little monsters P2 should be road ready by next Thursday as I'm getting my axle seal that day and everything will be bolted back together.

That's true. There is a big lack of small turbo hatches. Never again will I own a car with a regular trunk. Hatchback is amazing and so much useful compared to a trunk. You fold the seats and it becomes a storage monster. Moved a few friends with it, you can pack alot of boxes in there!

They have threatened to stop allowing the importation of many cars and threatened to alter the 15 year rule for mor than 20 years now, but yet haven't done it. Let's see what 2010 brings. Keep in mind that diplomats can import anything they wants consequence free as they fall under the umbrella od Foreign Affairs instead of Transport Canada and they end up selling their cars which miraculously get registered even though they don't comply with Transport Canada's rules and regulations. The rules do get broken often and only when someones snitches does anything happen. The owner of Quebec Son imported a BMW Z1 back in the day when it clearly was inadmissable and what did the press do....they plastered it all over the newspaper praising it. I never saw him lose that car even though it was illegal. Same thing with an Alfa Romeo 156 that was for sale in the Hebdo and that car was only a few years old at that time. Rules don't always apply to everyone.

Diplomats shouldn't be able to sell their cars in Canada, as it is not legal for them to do so. They have the right to keep their car here for 1 year minus 1 day then it needs to be exported back, and ownership cannot be transfered here.

The main problem right now is Quebec and its bogus study about the fact that RHD cars are more dangerous than LHD. Problem is that they removed the LHD cars that had high accident rates from the study (like Honda Civics) and counted EVERY accident, wether the RHD car was in cause or not. So this is just some random bulls*** as the point of this study is not "RHD cars create more accidents than LHD" but more "RHD cars are involved in many accidents" ... sure they are, if every RHD car gets hit by someone, wow we are at risk...

I just hope somebody at the board sees it from that point of view but I doubt it.

P1 looks awesome, but something in my head keeps saying, "looks like a VW" Am I going to hell? I know how bad a** the car is but still the lines don't lie.

It does indeed look like a blend of a Golf, Forester and Civic.

The rear is almost identical to the Forester, and looks like an MK3 Golf

I've been asked a few times if it has a VR6 under the hood

Hell Yeah I love the GTiR one of my good friends has 2 of them as well a white one and a silver. These cars where only built for 4 years in the early 90's and they were built for Rally racing by nissan but the major problem is they had trouble with Right turns. BUT i do give you mad a** props for the GTi-R Since one out ran my 93 GTR

He has 2 ? In the US or somewhere else? As it seems they are hard to get plated in the US.

I should go to the track next summer with P1 when it's tuned. It will get dynoed in April and I am hoping for 400hp at the crank (±300awhp).
